Building Construction in the Myers-Lawson School of Construction at Virginia Tech is seeking applications for a tenure-track Associate or Full Professor of Building Construction with expertise in building systems, building physics, and/or building performance. The position is effective August 2026.

Bishop-Favrao and Hitt Halls are home to the Automation & Robotics in Construction and Design Engineering (ARCADE) Lab, the Building Enclosure and Systems Technologies (BEST) Lab, the Sustainable Facilities & Infrastructure Systems (SF&I) Lab, the Smart Systems Lab, and the Virtual Facilities Research Lab (VFRL), among others. Work is underway in Northern Virginia on Coalition for Smart Construction, which will expand the School's footprint to Northern Virginia.

The CIB is an interdisciplinary research center that is a partnership between the Virginia Tech College of Engineering and the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Research in the CIB spans a broad range of both computational and experimental biomechanics approaches to investigate injury mechanisms, understand human tolerance for injury, and engineer preventative safety strategies and devices. The spectrum of ongoing research is broad and includes automobile safety, military safety, and sports biomechanics. We seek candidates that have a wide range of experience with additive and subtractive manufacturing processes, robotic systems and their use in advanced manufacturing, material characterization (X-ray CT, mechanical testing, microscopy, etc.), and other relevant processes (welding, forming, etc.). This individual will assist in the coordination of the advanced manufacturing activities within the VT MADE center and will be the lead for an advanced manufacturing experiential learning and research space in our new Mitchell Hall which is currently under construction on the Virginia Tech campus.
