Yes, AutoZone may drug test prior to an offer of employment in some locations. While some employees have reported that a drug test was not required, others have said one was required prior to employment. It was also reported that the drug test was looking for illicit substances, including cannabis.

In addition to a pre-employment test, AutoZone reserves the right to drug test an employee at any time if substance use is suspected or if a workplace accident occurs. If the result is positive, it can void any worker's compensation claims and can result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
