Yes, Berry Global drug tests. All new hires are asked to take a pre-employment drug test as part of the hiring process. Berry Global also has the right to drug test any employee that they suspect is under the influence or if they are involved in a workplace accident. They typically use a urine-based drug test done at a local third-party lab.
Berry Global looks for the following during their pre-employment drug screening:
Amphetamines (methamphetamines, meth, speed, ecstasy)
Cocaine (coke, crack)
Opiates (heroin, opium, codeine, morphine
Phencyclidine (PCP, angel dust)
You may notice that cannabis is not included on that list. The reason for this is that Berry Global does not care whether an employee uses cannabis recreationally. However, they do not tolerate an employee showing up to work high.
In the cases where an employee is intoxicated while at work may result in disciplinary action and may include the employee having to attend a drug abuse treatment program.
Berry Global is a smoke-free workplace, and as such, the use of tobacco or vaping products is prohibited while at work unless in a designated smoking area during a scheduled break.
