How are nannies paid?

By Zippia Team - Oct. 25, 2022

Nannies are paid an hourly wage in cash or by check on a daily, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis. Some employers of nannies also opt to use cash transaction apps to pay their nannies.

Nannies that work full time, meaning five days a week at up to 40 hours, are generally paid on a weekly basis. Nannies who work more sporadic hours for a family are more likely to be paid on the same day they perform their service.

The average nanny in the United States charges $21.25 per hour for childcare services. However, pay rates differ depending on location.

In highly populated cities, it is not uncommon for a nanny to make $20 to $30 per hour, while in less populated regions, they may only earn $10 to $15 per hour.
