How do you write a research internship on a resume?

You can introduce your research internship experience in your profile objective. This can let the hiring manager know right away that even though you're a student or recent grad, you still have some on-the-job experience. This can definitely improve your chances relative to candidates without internship experience.

For example, " University XYZ graduate in Molecular Biology graduate (4.0 GPA, Graduated Magna Cum Laude) with one-year internship experience assisting and overseeing research projects involving isolating and analyzing RNA, DNA, and protein."

If you're just starting out as a researcher, then list your internship experience under the work experience section. Here, you'll want to include three to six bullet points highlighting your accomplishments and training. For example, "Performed genotyping of mice in four cohorts (250 cages each)."

Finally, you should include a customized list of hard and soft skills related to your research internship experience. Include up to ten skills that reflect your abilities, as well as those mentioned in the job description.
