This question is about attorney resumes.
You write an attorney resume profile by creating a concise summary that covers who you are as a lawyer, illustrates what you bring to the table, and highlights your accomplishments. As a lawyer, you're trained to make a concise, persuasive argument - your attorney resume profile should lead off in the same manner.
The goal of a profile summary is to introduce your resume quickly and effectively and brand yourself to the potential employer.
As such, your attorney resume profile should be no longer than two to four sentences in length. It sets the tone for the rest of the resume and should be located at the top of it just after your name and contact information.
We recommend starting each sentence with an action verb and presenting a mixture of your specific credentials and proven success.
After reading an attorney profile summary, you should be able to answer the following questions:
Who the lawyer is
What type of law they practice and what they're passionate about
Their areas of expertise and where they've been successful
You should include important information such as the number of years of experience, and your focus is as a lawyer. For example, "Results-driven lawyer with 5+ years of experience ensuring the legality of commercial transactions."
An attorney resume profile should also mention what states you are licensed to work in. For example, "Persuasive litigator backed by dual-state licensure (NY, NJ) who passionately represents client interests, working diligently to analyze case merits, minimize risk and propel positive resolutions."
Finally, be sure to also showcase your success as a lawyer. For example, "Proven success achieving case dismissals, no-fault judgments, advantageous settlements, and favorable verdicts."
