This question is about Uber Technologies.
An Uber background check typically takes three to five days. In some cases, the lack of electronic records at the county level can prolong the process. Even with these exceptions, the process should not take more than ten days.
Background checks are done by a third-party background check provider called Checkr. Once the report is received by Checkr, Uber will assess and determine the driver's eligibility. Applicants can check on the status of the background check by signing to the Checkr Candidate Portal.
The search will consult multi-state criminal records, the DMV, and the National Sex Offender Registry to ensure potential drivers have not been involved in any activities that would threaten the safety of Uber's customers. Any outstanding issues, such as a criminal charge that is still pending, will turn up in the background check.
Some felony offenses may or may not cause Uber to reject the application. These will vary depending on the seriousness of the charges and local laws concerning what makes someone a "safe" driver.
You may receive a copy of the completed report from Checkr while Uber is reviewing the results of the background check. Once the report is reviewed and a decision is made, the background check status will be updated.
