How long does it take to become a certified personal trainer?
It takes between three to six months to become a certified personal trainer. To receive a personal trainer certificate through bodies like ISSA, NASM or ACE takes several months to study the course materials and pass the test.
If a person has a goal to become a personal trainer, there are several options. The quickest is a certification. But a person can also choose to pursue a two-year associate's degree or even a four-year bachelor's degree.
A certification is less expensive and takes less time to complete, while a four-year degree may make you eligible for higher positions. Some personal trainers even earn master's degrees to advance further.
