How long does the BLS certification last?

BLS certification lasts for 2 years. After 2 years, you need to complete a BLS recertification course if you want to renew your license. This course refreshes your memory on basic life support procedures and may give any needed updates. The cost for renewal can be as little as $15, but you most likely need to spend around $60 for a solid course.

These recertification courses are often offered online, in-person, or in a hybrid center. They can be offered through your local Red Cross, firehouse, or often through a private business. Once renewed, you are certified for two years again before you need to go through the recertification process again.
