How long is basic Army training?

Basic Army training takes around 10 weeks to complete. Basic Army training is also referred to as boot camp, and it is the introduction recruits have to Army service. Basic Army training seeks to teach recruits all about the traditions, strategies, and methods of becoming a soldier in the Army.

Basic Army training covers many different areas, but broadly it focuses on;

  • Physical fitness required to be a soldier

  • Discipline and dedication

  • Proper dress code

  • Army grooming standards

  • Building character

  • Learning the Army's values and the soldier's creed

  • Weapons training

  • Combat field training

Army basic training is comprised of four phases:

  • Phase one is two weeks and it is an introduction to the Army

  • Phase two (Red Phase) is two weeks with a focus on discipline, values, teamwork

  • Phase three (White Phase) is three weeks with a focus of basic skills of a soldier

  • Phase four (Blue Phase) Final challenges and graduation
