This question is about surgical technician.
It is not hard to become a surgical technician. Compared to more intensive healthcare roles, it is relatively easy to become a surgical technician.
However, that does not mean it is simple either. A person needs to dedicate significant amounts of time and energy to complete at least an associate's degree program in surgical technology.
This program is intended to prepare a surgical technician to expertly handle the many requests thrown at them in the operating room. They will gain hands-on experience and critical information. All of this education and training must then be remembered and performed perfectly every time.
The hardest part of becoming a surgical technician is getting certified. There are two groups that grant the credentials to become surgical technicians. Both require a person to finish school and pass a test.
The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting offers the Certified Surgical Technologist exam, a 175 item test on everything from preoperative paperwork to legal practices related to surgery. The National Center for Competency Testing tests a person on medical terms, infection control, and safety and procedures.
