Is there a certification for utilization review nurses?

There are a few certification programs that allow prospective UR nurses to gain the knowledge and qualifications they need to pursue a nursing career in utilization review.

These are the Certification in Health Care Quality Management (HCQM), Health Care Risk Management Certificate (HRM), and the Nursing Case Management Certification (CMGT - BC).

The HCQM is offered by the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians. This certification program allows nurses and other healthcare workers to participate. It includes a variety of important topics, including transitional care, insurance care, patient safety, risk management, and quality assurance.

The American Society for Health Care Risk Management offers the HRM to healthcare professionals with under five years of experience working in the healthcare industry.

The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) offers a variety of nursing certifications, including the Nursing Case Management Certification. This certification allows entry-level nursing professionals with RN licensure to learn about case management, care coordination, patient advocacy, and healthcare insurance policies.
