What are the duties of a patient services technician?
The duties of a patient care technician are numerous and center around assisting doctors and nurses in providing care to patients in hospital and clinical settings. These duties range from monitoring basic vital signs to tracking food intake.
In many ways, a patient services technician is a contact person while clients are hospitalized. Because of the nature of their role, technicians must possess a great deal of patience and compassion.
Any questions regarding diet, scheduled X-rays, or concerns raised by the patient are the responsibility of the services technician. You will also assist patients in using the bathroom, and any other movements required.
In addition to fielding the questions and concerns of the patient, as a patient services technician, you are also responsible for providing updates to the patient's health care team.
You will also interact with family members and their questions regarding a patient's wellbeing. A patient services technician spends more time with a patient than any other medical personnel and acts as both caretaker and advocate.
