You need a master's degree in psychotherapy to become a psychotherapist. You should start by obtaining a bachelor's degree in psychology or a related field, and then pursue your master's in psychotherapy.

While earning your master's degree in psychotherapy, you are allowed to gain clinical experience that is necessary to obtain a license as a psychotherapist.
