This question is about assistant principal.
You need a bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university to be an assistant principal. Completion of an approved preparation program that leads to licensure in the state is also required as well as several years of experience as a classroom teacher.
A master's degree in a field like educational leadership or school administration would be beneficial but is usually not required. It is particularly important that you spend time working in the classroom prior to going on to pursue the career path of an assistant principal.
Having classroom experience has more than one benefit:
It provides you with a better perspective of the consequences of administrative policies
Provide you with an air of legitimacy
Teachers who work with you will appreciate that you have stood where they stand and understand the struggles they face.
