To become a preschool teacher, you will need to hold at least an associate's degree in early childhood education or a related field. In most states, you are qualified to begin working at a preschool after completing high school. Yet most centers and schools will require an associate's or bachelor's degree.
In addition, experience working with children is extremely important. Experience can include babysitting or even coaching a child's sports team. Most degree programs will also include coursework that focuses on classroom training and experience.
As you are often working with young children, strong verbal communication skills and patience are necessary to be successful in this role.
