To become a preschool teacher, you will need to hold at least an associate's degree in early childhood education or a related field. In most states, you are qualified to begin working at a preschool after completing high school. Yet most centers and schools will require an associate's or bachelor's degree.

As you are often working with young children, strong verbal communication skills and patience are necessary to be successful in this role. Not only will you need to be able to communicate with your students, but you need to build strong relationships with the parents and guardians of your students.
