Trading plays an important role in the global economy by creating liquidity in the financial market, and there are many options open to traders to advance their careers in different avenues.
The most common trader jobs:
Equities Trader
Traders focus on publicly listed stocks and shares. The goal is to look for large short-term gains. This position is more common in Asset Management firms.
Fixed Income Trader
Traders focus on bonds, government securities, and fixed-income assets.
Fixed Income Asset means any assets that provide fixed returns over a period of time (e.g., Government, Mortgage, Municipal, Corporate). This position is more common in banks, financial institutions, and investment firms.
Forex Trader
Trading on Currency Movements and Fluctuations. Generally, forex traders trade on currency pairs - USD/INR, EUR/USD, etc. Forex Traders are responsible for executing FX transactions. This position is more common in stocks or foreign currency trading.
Commodities Trader
Trades in Crude, Gold, Metals, etc. These include almost every tangible natural asset like Oil, Copper, Gold, Water, Wheat, Corn, etc. This position is more common in stockbroker firms or futures commission merchants (FCM).
Derivatives Trader
This includes trading with Options, Futures, etc. Derivatives are favorite among traders due to leveraged bets that you can make as well as lower capital requirements. It also tends to be the riskiest of the trading style. This position is more common in public and private clients, including corporate and individual clients.
