What You'll Do as a Hospice Chaplain:
Provide spiritual and emotional support to patients, families, and caregivers in alignment with their beliefs and values.
Offer non-denominational, inclusive care that respects all faiths, spiritual traditions, and cultural backgrounds.
Serve as an integral member of the interdisciplinary team, participating in patient care conferences and collaborating with nurses, social workers, aides, and medical staff.
Assess spiritual needs of patients and families and develop individualized spiritual care plans.
Conduct visits, prayers, blessings, and rituals as appropriate and requested by the patient or family.
Assist families during times of grief, loss, or transition, and provide bereavement support and counseling.
Build relationships with local faith leaders and community resources to support patients' and families' unique spiritual needs.
Maintain timely and accurate documentation of spiritual assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
About You
The candidate must meet one of the following educational requirements:
Bachelor's degree in theology, religion, human services, counseling, psychology, or sociology (or as required by state-specific regulations)
A minimum of one unit of ACPE-accredited Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE)
Note: Degrees from accredited institutions are preferred. If a degree is from a non-accredited college or university, AVPO approval is required prior to hire.

* Develop and maintain Training Affiliation Agreements (TAAs) between Wright-Patterson Medical Center and outside medical institutions as required for resident and student rotations.
* Regularly ensure needs assessment meet accreditation standards and medical facility education programs are designed to meet medical staff and mission requirements and fully contribute to the facility's teaching mission.
* Work with Squadron and 88th Medical Group Security Managers to coordinate and ensure completion of Security Program requirements for residency members.
* Coordinate Resident/Student Recruitment, Onboarding, Orientation, and Graduation/Completion of program.
* Regularly coordinate information and activities with other services, sites, and departments, including rotation schedules, evaluations schedules, evaluations, conferences, interviews, room/course scheduling.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL/LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree or degree seeking in Social Work, Psychology or related field preferred. High school degree or equivalent required. CPR and First Aid.

The Staff Chaplain is responsible to develop and create operational alignment in these areas:

Assesses emotional and spiritual needs of staff and patients and provides appropriate interventions.
Receive referrals, and follow up within 24 hours.
Develops a pastoral care plan by identifying objectives, interventions and outcomes
Manages on-call duty (nights, weekends, holidays)
Recruits and Manages volunteers
Conducts patient visitation to meet the KH goals
Participates in patient care rounds
Communicates appropriate information to the interdisciplinary team. Be intentionally part of the interdisciplinary team.
Educates staff on the role and function of the chaplain
Provides support to staff, demonstrating compassion and effective leadership
Coordinates worship and religious services for special dates.
Lead worship services and devotionals for staff.
Provides grief and loss support to patients and staff.
Be involved in the local Ministerial Association and/or a Service Club.
Provide one on one Pastoral Counseling to staff
Lead and/or coordinates support groups
Lead and support families with End of Life issues, funeral and bereavement services.
Manages the Care Ambassador program recruiting and in-service
Be part of the back-up on-call schedule to support our KH chaplains.
Assists in the education of CPE residents and interns as indicated

The campus Chaplain provides spiritual guidance on campus. This role provides pastoral care services to residents, family members, and associates Responsibilities
Provide worship and spiritual enrichment opportunities to residents and staff
Attend to residents who are homebound or in local hospitals, either personally or through Friend Visitor program.
Support residents with end-of-life spiritual care
Assist with Advance Directives/Advance Care Planning
Offer Pastoral Counseling to residents, family members, and associates
Perform spiritual assessments and spiritual plans of care for residents.
Participate in interdisciplinary team care planning
Lead Vespers, Independent Living Bible Study weekly, pastoral care, and visitations as needed
Requirements

Current Master's Degree of Divinity, and Ministry Ordination, preferred

Board Certified Chaplaincy preferred
