ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Oversees and coordinates receiving of all incoming merchandise; insures all merchandise is accurately and efficiently counted, documented, unloaded and stored or distributed to proper location. Oversees the safe and efficient handling of goods by employees operating forklifts or other machinery ensuring that employees receive the proper training and certification, if necessary. Oversees and coordinates periodic inventory checks; prepares merchandise orders to ensure that identified stock levels meet merchandising requirements at all times; maintains record keeping system to provide immediate access to current stock information when needed. Checks sales invoices and assigns yard or warehouse workers to assemble and load merchandise in customer's vehicle, ensuring correct load building. Performs similar work as other warehouse employees. Ensures that warehouse areas are well organized kept neat and clean and scraps and warehouse debris are appropriately recycled or disposed; reports safety hazards and handles remedial action. Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices and oversees the activities of other employees in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers; attends periodic safety meetings as required; may recommend changes to improve safety procedures. Other duties may be assigned. COMPETENCIES Working knowledge of yard and product activities on location including component or materials weights and methods of loading Ability to plan and coordinate work processes to maintain and increase manpower and equipment efficiency Advanced knowledge of operation and handling of all machinery and equipment used in the yard; maintains certification to operate such if required. Communication skills sufficient to speak before teams and work groups to explain work rules, product standards and productivity goals Ability to read and write work schedules and reports Knowledge of basic math, counting and estimating Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and four (4) years experience performing and coordinating yard or warehousing activities, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
