Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.Unit Counselor - (8 Openings) $71/day Provides a safe and supportive camp experience by supervising campers, ensuring their well-being, and guiding them through daily routines and activities. Our Overnight Camp staff positions are full-time throughout camp season. The days of work are primarily Sunday through Friday. Staff are expected to stay overnight throughout the summer. Staff receive a two-hour break Monday - Thursday. Staff will have housing and food provided during working hours.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Experience in youth programming.
Must enjoy and be comfortable with working outdoors with youth.

About the Role
What You Will Do:
The Tag Staff Lead will supervise and be responsible for planning, teaching, and coordinating activities in the Tag Unit.
How You Will Lead:
Supervise and evaluate the Tag Unit Staff.
Provide opportunities for the unit so that each individual camper experiences success during camp.
Maintain Tag Unit hours.
Maintain guidelines for all staff during scheduled activities (i.e., all staff must swim with the children, etc.).
Help provide for the physical health and safety and the mental welfare of the campers.
Teach camping skills and appreciation of the out-of-doors.
Guide activities and experiences in the unit through use of scheduled activities provided by Day Camp Directors and activities that have been planned in Staff Training.
Assist program staff, craft staff, kitchen staff in special events and programs involving campers.
Help Tag Supervisor with scheduling of activities as well as unit staff time off.
Assume responsibility for physical health and safety and the mental welfare of the campers. Be responsible for unit cleaning at the end of each session and at the end of camp.
Keep attendance records and make daily reports as required.
Makes every effort to have a strong, cohesive staff team to provide the best program and atmosphere for the campers.
Set a good example for others in the areas of cleanliness, sanitation, punctuality, sharing, clean-up, sportsmanship, and manners.
Participate in all camp events.
Follow camp rules and regulations.
Establish break schedule for Staff (30-minute break daily, lunch break, and additional break time on the evening of the overnight.) The staff will be more successful when breaks are incorporated into the daily schedule.
While spending the night on Thursday nights Tag Staff will stay with campers and provide supervision throughout the night.
These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassessed, and other duties may be assigned as required.

CampCounselors are an integral part of the camp team. We are seeking energetic, fun, and engaging individuals to inspire our teen campers to become the best version of themselves.
For the day camps:
Provide support and create a safe, supportive environment for 2-6th grade students participating in camp activities. Guide students through their camp experience by assisting with academics, leadership development, team building, peer relationships, recreational activities, and serving as a mentor. Build connections, both individually and collectively, with campers by planning and leading intentional in-person interactions, group activities, and workshops.
CampCounselors also monitor student engagement, ensure safety protocols are followed, and help students adapt to the camp routine. RAs should be highly accessible throughout the camp day and actively involved in activities across campus.
We are seeking mature, dependable, energetic young adults who enjoy working with teens. Ideal opportunity for future educators, but all majors encouraged.
Primary Responsibilities
Monitoring, leading, and encouraging a team of students in daily and weekly activities. Supervising student participants. Working as part of a team to create a successful, safe, and fun learning environment for students.
Assisting professional staff members.
Leading lesson plans for studetns
Enforcing the rules of the Camp Code of Conduct and holding students accountable for their behaviors.
Taking responsibility for the safety of students and other staff members by observing surroundings, identifying problems or students in distress, and responding according to protocol.
Preparing reports and correspondence, including, but not limited to, incident reports and emails to camp staff.
Plan, lead, and participate in group activities, workshops, and recreational sessions.
Guide campers between activities and ensure adherence to the daily schedule.
Assist with setup and cleanup of camp activities and spaces as needed.
Qualifications
CampCounselors must have graduated from high school in 2022 or earlier and have completed 60 college credits by the end of the spring semester 2025, with a 2.5 minimum GPA. RAs must be in good academic, financial, and disciplinary standing with NKU.
CampCounselors must be able to communicate effectively, and able to give directions and lead students in the event of an emergency. They must possess a valid driver's license in case of emergency driving.
RAs must be comfortable enforcing policy. This includes upholding all policies and procedures as defined by Northern Kentucky University's Community Standards & Student Rights , Housing Policies, Rules & Regulations and any other applicable University policies and procedures.
CampCounselors must attend all training prior to camp's start and be available for the entire camp.
Any candidate who is offered this position will be required to go through a pre-employment criminal background check as mandated by state law.
