Chickasaw Holding company history timeline

1909

Back in 1909, our company was created because of two mules.

1930

Grant Foreman (Cedar Rapids, Iowa: Torch Press, 1930).

1932

Grant Foreman, Indian Removal: The Emigration of the Five Civilized Tribes of Indians (Norman: University of Oklahoma Press, 1932).

1937

Then in 1937, John advised his son Royce Gauntt that, “You’re the last of 12 children; the others have gone from home and you now can have the telephone company since no one else wanted it.”

1942

Royce went to college and then joined the Navy in 1942.

1956

In 1956, while still on active duty, he secured an REA Loan.

1962

In 1962, Chickasaw Telephone moved their business office from Lone Grove to Ardmore after they had expanded into seven more operating areas.

1975

In 1975 they also acquired the Sulphur area and moved the business office to Sulphur on July 1, 1975.

1983

After several legal challenges, Chickasaw tribe members ratified a modified version that received approval from the United States government in 1983.

1987

Bill Anoatubby in 1987, the Chickasaw Nation entered the twenty-first century as a successful economic and political entity.

1989

Chickasaw Personal Communications, Inc. (CPC) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chickasaw Holding Company, Inc. headquartered in Sulphur, OK. CPC was formed in 1989 and currently operates office locations in Ardmore, Norman and Oklahoma City.

1992

Duane Champagne, Social Order and Political Change: Constitutional Governments Among the Cherokee, the Choctaw, the Chickasaw, and the Creek (Stanford, Calif.: Stanford University Press, 1992).

1999

Today Chickasaw Holding Company, which was formed in 1999, includes 14 separate companies.

2012

On May 31, 2012 CPC acquired Leon’s Radio in Oklahoma City and TD’s Radio in Norman.

2019

On February 11, 2019 CPC acquired Radios Unlimited, d/b/a/ Chickasaw Communications, located in Oklahoma City.
