The job of SpEd Para II is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program under the direction of an assigned clasroom teacher with specific responsibility for assisting in the supervision, care and instruction of special needs students in the regular classroom or in a self-contained classroom; assisting in implementing plans for instruction; monitoring student behavior during instructional and non-instructional time; and providing information to appropriate school personnel.
Essential Functions
Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher (e.g. listening to students read, assisting with art projects, cooking, physical education, etc.) for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives and IEP goals.

Assists students with self-care activities (e.g. toileting, washing, changing diapers, eating, dressing, grooming, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining students' personal hygiene.

Collects data for the purpose of supporting teachers in the classroom and preparing reports and/or processing forms.
Communicates with supervising instructional staff, professional support personnel for the for the purpose of assisting in evaluating progress and/or implementing IEP objectives.
Implements under the supervision of assigned teacher, behavioral plans designed by IEP team for students with behavior disorders or other special conditions for the purpose of presenting and/or
reinforcing learning concepts and acquiring appropriate social and school skills.
Maintains instructional materials and/or manual and electronic files/records (e.g. decorating bulletin boards, making art projects, correcting papers, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of items; providing written reference; and/or meeting mandated requirements.
Monitors students during assigned periods within a variety of school environments (e.g. rest rooms, playgrounds, hallways, bus loading zones, cafeteria, parking lots, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.
Provides under the supervision of assigned teacher, instruction to students in a variety of individual and group activities (e.g. academic subjects, social skills, daily living skills, etc.) for the purpose of reinforcing instructional objectives; implementing IEP plans; and ensuring students success in school.

The NHMU Youth and Family Programs Supply Assistant is responsible for assisting the Supply Lead with program supplies, from organization and delivery to program spaces to maintenance and tracking. Complete and maintain all training, certifications and licensing related to role, program licensing, and grant standards including but not limited to: CPR, First Aid, Food Handlers Permit.
Attend all required staff meetings, individual and/or group supervision, agency-wide staff and other training, as well as any other meetings and activities as requested.
Monitor campus security in collaboration with all staff to protect the safety and well-being of program participants, staff, and visitors.

Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include a combined 5 or more years of education and experience:
18 years of age. CDA preferred.
Experience working with children required.
An understanding of and agreement with YWCA Utah's mission, values and philosophy regarding the elimination of racism and empowerment of women.
Ability to work scheduled hours on a regular basis; some weekends and evenings are required.
Proficiency with general office duties, computer systems, and technology.
Skilled in establishing effective working relationships.
Ability to collaborate and invite collaboration.
Able to demonstrate skills in effective communication, conflict resolution and problem solving.
Must be able to pass Department of Health and Human Services criminal background check, meet I-9 requirements, and, if driving agency vehicles, have a valid Utah driver's license, automobile insurance and motor vehicle record.
Physical/Sensory Demands
Work is generally performed in a safe office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: sit for long periods of time; use computer to enter data; use telephone to converse with customers and employees; walk and stand for long periods of time; perform repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement. Travel to attend conferences, training, outreach and other events occurs routinely.

SUMMARY
The Master Teacher supervises assigned staff, works cooperatively as part of a classroom team to deliver high-quality services to all children and families, and is responsible for the care and education of a group of children as part of the teaching team.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
* A bachelor's degree or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field with an emphasis on Early Childhood essential topics
* Experience teaching preschool-aged children.
* Must complete and maintain a CPR/First Aid certification within 90 days of hire
* Must complete and maintain a Food Handler Permit within 60 days of hire
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Two years of related experience
* Previous Head Start experience
* Bilingual in languages spoken by families served by UCA
* Valid driver's license
The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, from 7:45 am to 4:15 pm.
