Key job responsibilities
The Commissioning Engineer (CxE) provides testing and validation oversight of AWS data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure. CxEs review design documents, lead Factory Witness Testing (FWT), and manage third-party commissioning vendors in the performance of onsite pre-functional, functional, and integrated systems testing. They take Ownership of their projects' successes by Diving Deep to resolve technical issues and having Bias for Action to address everchanging schedule and coordination demands onsite. Additionally, CxEs communicate lessons learned and continuously collaborate on program improvements.
The CxE shall provide multi-discipline input into the scheduling, test script development, designing, and planning of projects. In addition, the CxE will be required to review component submittal packages, lead Factory Witness Testing (FWT), perform system level and integrated system testing. During commissioning the CxE will continuously audit activities to ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements. Additionally, the individual will be responsible for comprehensive weekly reporting of status of all ongoing projects and lessons learned to continually improve the quality of our program. This position will include coverage of multiple inflight projects and tight timelines.
A day in the life
On a typical project, the CxE works across AWS engineering, capacity delivery, operations, and contractor teams to coordinate site activities, prioritize tasks, and ensure each issue has clear path to resolution. The CxE manages the project commissioning vendor whose primary scope is to identify issues, determine criticality, propose solutions, and document their findings. If project turnover is at risk, the CxE escalates to the appropriate stakeholders. Upon project completion, the CxE will communicate lessons learned to help peers on similar projects in flight and participate in initiatives that drive improvement to the commissioning program.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- 5+ years of engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or 5 years of relevant discipline work experience

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a high-level position that exists to receive and interpret specifications for Orenco electrical products and services, develop and extend price quotes, design customized equipment, provide customer support, and promote and market Orenco's electrical equipment. This position carries strong emphasis on PLC programming and related automation tasks. This position is also responsible for developing, modifying and troubleshooting programs for Siemens PLCs (S7-1200, S7-1500, etc.) using TIA Portal and
for designing and testing equipment for a variety of applications.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions:
> Design/Programming
Develops codes for programmable logic devices and Orenco SCADA systems.
Develops code for HMI systems.
Designs networked systems using standard protocols including Modbus RTU, TCP/IP.

Writes and reviews installation procedures for electrical equipment configurations.
> Test/Monitor Production
Checks finished layout of custom panels to assure proper setup and design.
Tests completed on custom panels for defects and proper operation.
Safely tests equipment with voltages as high as 480VAC 3 phase.
Files all panel construction details of customer panel orders for future reference.
> Quoting
Receives and interprets customer specifications, determines customer needs, and develops
product and price quotes. Suggests changes to customer's specifications to improve functionality as needed.
Obtains price quotes for custom components from suppliers.
Coordinates with the Purchasing Department to ensure prompt ordering of custom and non-stocked components necessary in building custom electrical control panels.
> Customer Service
Provides continuous customer support of electrical controls and associated equipment throughout the sales, manufacturing, and installation processes.
Communicates with customers by telephone, and in writing.
Travels to job sites, as necessary, to oversee or assist in electrical system startups, perform field modifications, on-site troubleshooting, or to support the Sales or Systems Engineering personnel as required.
Promotes Orenco's electrical panels by meeting with distributors, prospective distributors, OEM's, contractors and regulators, and demonstrating Orenco's products and equipment.
Conducts seminars with distributors, contractors, regulators, and electricians to explain and demonstrate proper use, and installation, of Orenco's electrical control panels.
> Research
Stays abreast of Orenco related products and technology by reading professional literature and attending industry related seminars.
Stays abreast of NEC code and UL requirements that apply to Orenco's control panels and pump installations.
> Product Development
High level of involvement in research, prototype development, testing and product documentation.
Designs and assists in the installation of in-house electrical equipment for Orenco.
Reviews catalogs, flyers, and component specifications, and recommends products for use in Orenco electrical control panels.
Attends team meetings and contributes ideas and opinions, continuously seeking improved methods for providing quality customer service.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Controls, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering or related degree is required.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
At least five years of experience in electrical Controls engineering
Must demonstrate advanced proficiency in developing, modifying, and troubleshooting programs for Siemens PLCs (S7-1200, S7-1500, etc.) using TIA Portal.
Familiarity with HMI configuration, communication protocols, and standardized programming practices is required.
Experience with Allen-Bradley Studio 5000/RSLogix or other PLC environments is preferred.
