Position Summary:
The Labor Superintendent is responsible for managing all field labor operations for Hohl Industrial Services, including foremen, journeymen, and trades personnel. This position oversees the preparation, scheduling, and performance of field labor to ensure safe, accurate, and on-time completion of all projects. Working closely with Dispatch, the Labor Superintendent will ensure seamless coordination of manpower assignments and execution of the project schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
Personnel Management
Allocate all union labor to Field Service and Construction projects.
Coordinate with the Equipment Manager and Transportation Dispatcher to schedule and mobilize qualified crane operators and other specialized labor.
Ensure proper assignment of trades in compliance with jurisdictional and union requirements.
Address and resolve jurisdictional and other labor issues in collaboration with Union Business Agents.
Manage personnel actions including hiring, releasing, and layoffs as required by project needs.
Supervise, train, and evaluate performance of foremen and journeymen.
Maintain and update daily, weekly, and monthly labor schedules.
Ensure all employees operating company vehicles are enrolled in and compliant with the LENS program.
Distribute employee paychecks to job sites as needed.
Availability & Travel
Be available on call 24/7 to address field labor needs and emergencies.
Travel to out-of-town job sites when necessary.
Safety
Partner with the Safety Manager to maintain required safety training for all foremen.
Hold foremen accountable for attending safety meetings and adhering to safety protocols.
Assist in distributing "Toolbox Talks" and other safety communications.
Other Duties
Maintain a professional and customer-focused attitude at all times.
Utilize departmental software, including Microsoft Office Suite and Viewpoint ERP systems.
Attend and actively participate in company and departmental meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED required, Associate degree in Construction Management, Business, or a related field preferred.
7-10 years of progressive experience in construction or industrial services, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory or superintendent-level role overseeing union labor.
Strong knowledge of labor coordination, union agreements, and trade jurisdictional issues.
Proven ability to manage large, diverse teams of skilled tradespeople.
Familiarity with collective bargaining agreements and direct experience working with union representatives.
Demonstrated experience balancing manpower needs, scheduling, and budgets across multiple projects.
Solid understanding of jobsite safety practices, OSHA regulations, and safety training requirements.
Skills & Abilities
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including project cost estimation.

Job Title: Transmission Foreman Crew General Foreman Job Classification: Full Time / Non-Exempt Company: Electra Grid Solutions electragridsolutions.com The Transmission Foreman is a skilled and safety-focused leader responsible for supervising transmission line construction, installation, and maintenance crews. This role ensures that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards and company policies. The Transmission Foreman provides technical expertise, mentorship to crew members, and maintains project documentation to support operational excellence and grid reliability.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
* Provide direct supervision and technical guidance to Linemen, Apprentices, Equipment Operators, Crane Operators, Truck Drivers, and Groundmen.
* Lead and teach crews in hot stick work on energized transmission lines.
* Coordinate on-site operations, including crew mobilization, work planning, and equipment setup.
* Perform and oversee maintenance or repair work of energized and de-energized transmission lines.
* Conduct pre-job briefings (tailboards) and ensure safety protocols are followed.
* Read and interpret site plans, electrical drawings, and project specifications.
* Safely perform reconductoring jobs, stringing overhead wire, setting poles and anchors, and identifying puller/tensioner setups.
* Install and replace transmission system components: transformers, arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear.
* Troubleshoot and supervise the troubleshooting of primary and secondary transmission systems.
* Replace cutout fuses and clear faulted circuits.
* Inspect and maintain PPE, rubber goods, vehicles, and equipment in proper working condition.
* Ensure compliance with reporting procedures and complete required documentation.
* Communicate effectively with Project Managers, Construction Managers, and other stakeholders.
* Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, productivity, and crew development.

Job Requirements
* High school diploma or equivalent required.
* Class A-level experience in transmission line construction and maintenance.
* Valid Class A CDL required.
* Strong knowledge of transmission line grounding procedures and energized line work.
* Certification in safe traffic control practices and public safety techniques (per state/local regulations).
* Proficiency in basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Email, Excel, KPA, Abacus).
* Competent in operating all equipment, including track bucket/digger.
* Must pass drug, alcohol, background, physical, and MVR checks.
* Ability and willingness to:
* Travel long distances on short notice.
* Work extended hours, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
* Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including inclement weather.
* Strong problem-solving, organizational, and leadership skills.
* Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
Physical Requirements
* Lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
* Climb and work on wood, steel, and other structures at elevated heights.
* Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching.
* Perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements.
* Work involves exposure to high-voltage systems, heights, and noisy environments.
* Must maintain close visual acuity to perform inspections and detailed tasks.
* Physically fit to perform pole-top rescue operations and emergency response activities.
Working Conditions
* Outdoor work in all types of weather, including extreme heat, cold, and storms.
* Exposure to hazardous conditions typical in electrical utility environments.
* Must be flexible to travel to multiple job sites and remain on location for extended periods.
* Required to wear proper PPE at all times.
