About the Role
As a Fiber Foreman at xAI's Memphis data center, you'll take the lead overseeing the installation and maintenance of critical fiber optic systems. Working onsite with dedicated teams and collaborators, you'll tackle complex challenges to ensure our network infrastructure runs flawlessly, meeting the demands of a high-growth tech environment. Expect to guide your crew, streamline workflows, and keep connectivity rock-solid to power xAI's mission of advancing human scientific discovery through AI.
This is an in-person role based in Memphis, Tennessee, with approximately 20% travel required.
Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the Project Manager and Superintendent, crewleader responsible for datacenter installation projects and daily work assignments based on Fiber Span sheets, path determination, and team communication
Provide on the job training and direction for employees working under you
Ensure a safe and productive work environment
Develop sensor indicators and conduct timely inspections, so that a faulty fiber optic system does not destabilize its performance
Troubleshoot, resolve, repair and install fiber optics systems, ensuring that they work properly
Examine and replace faulty and/or old fiber optic cables
Organize scheduled maintenance routines
Take care of fiber splicing and rectify fiber optic problem areas
Keep track of the signal strength of different devices
Formulate and maintain system records and system designs
Required Qualifications
2+ years of experience managing teams (preferably data center cabling technicians)
3+ years of direct data center experience installing and routing optical fiber in large scale Tier 3 or 4 facilities
High school diploma or equivalency certificate
Position is subject to pre-employment drug and random drug and alcohol testing
Position is subject to pre-employment and annual post employment background checks
Physical Requirements:
Work is often performed in tight quarters and physical dexterity is necessary to perform job functions
