The Family Advocate is a field-based position that assists the Case Manager to implement Safety Services and Support Plans. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · To provide adoption case work for children with a goal of Adoption where termination of parental rights has been achieved · Complete timely adoption home studies and background checks for prospective adoptive families (this includes OCS requests received from other counties; refer to AARC, if necessary · Complete comprehensive child studies on each child on case load and ensure adoption tab is completed in FSFN · Complete adoption subsidy files for each child being adopted and submit enhanced subsidy packets, when needed · Refer to attorney and issue consents when appropriate · Attend all court hearings for children on case load · Request any adoption related required MDTs or other case staffings involving the child(ren) and family once assigned to the case · Coordinate with system professionals to ensure all paperwork and procedures are compliant with local and federal laws · Facilitate pre-adoption visits, if necessary, and manage interactions between children and prospective families · Provide recommendation for referrals to primary case manager · Maintain detailed case records and reports in FSFN · Display understanding of, and sensitivity to, service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics · Conduct regular home visits to monitor progress of the children/ families in the permanency process · Provide a list of post-adoption support and resources to families Qualifications A Bachelor's Degree from a four-year accredited college or university with a minimum of one (1) year of child welfare related experience OR an advanced degree in social work or a comparable human service field. These services may include non-medical counseling, training/health and wellness presentations, consultation with parents, personnel at child development centers, and consultation to installation command regarding behavioral health issues affecting children and youth. CYB counselors will be assigned to child development centers, youth programs, summer camps, and on demand assignments. The counselors work closely with the installation and military branch Points of Contact (POC) to assure that the program is provided within scope and meets the needs of the installation. Provides non-medical, short-term, solution focused counseling directly to eligible children and youth of service members at assigned primary and secondary locations. Services include assessment, brief counseling and consultation, action planning, referral to resources (assuring linkage as appropriate), and follow-up as indicated. CYB counselors will also have a focus on supporting the staff and personnel of Child Development Centers (CDC), youth programs and summer camps (if available/assigned) as well as providing parent support, training, and guidance. Belief in the capacity of people to grow and change. Provide a maximum of 3 booster sessions to family's so long as they meet the necessary requirement post discharge. Collaborate/Participate in community events to spread awareness of and promote BFC's FFT Program. Perform all other related duties as assigned. Job Essentials: Provide, at a minimum, weekly one-hour, home-based family therapy sessions to clients. Utilize the FFT model with families who have adolescents between the ages of 11 and 18.
