Job Title: Childcare Provider AFLSA Status: Non-ExemptDepartment: Client Services ProgramReports to: Shelter Manager AEffective Date: Pay Rate: $37,200 year $17.88 hour Childcare Provider A is responsible for providing top-quality care and education for children residing in the shelter program during the assigned shift ensuring wellness within the shelter facility.
HOURS: 40 hours or as necessary to achieve program objectives, tasks, activities, and responsibilities and to effectively document outcome measures and variations.
Typical Work Schedule: During School Hours: Monday - Friday 9 am/6 pm; 1-hour lunch
During Holidays and Summers: Monday - Friday 7:30 am/4:30 pm; 1-hour lunch.
Wednesday (4th) & Friday (2nd) Mandatory Staff Meetings every month; Quarterly Staff Meetings
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise and monitor the safety of all children signed into Bay Area Turning Point's Childcare.
Assist with the distribution of prepared meals and monitor children during mealtimes and snack time.
Help children maintain good hygiene, including washing hands, changing clothes of children and diapers of infants and toddlers
Adhere to organized activities and implement a curriculum that allows children to learn about the world and explore interests in a safe and sanitary environment.
Adhere to developed schedules and routines to ensure that children have enough physical activity, rest, and playtime.
Watch for signs of emotional or developmental problems in children and bring the concerns to the attention of the supervisor.
Adhere to a developed daily cleaning routine that keeps all the interactive areas sanitary and safe.
Work with the supervisor to maintain communication with parents and contact parents in emergency situations.
Pick up children enrolled in childcare from their respective bus routes during the school year.
Attend and assist with the preparation of field trips and special activities for children enrolled in childcare
Adhere to and ensure that all agency/program policies and procedures are always followed.
Attend and contribute to staff meetings
Participate as requested in the documentation of children's services participating in childcare.
Assist with parent orientation and tour of the childcare facility.
Provide crisis intervention assistance to current residents and hotline callers.
Maintain confidentiality pertaining to the shelter facility's records, residents, and locale.
Report all the significant incidents that might affect staff and client safety or the shelter operations.

Qualifications:
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a related field.
Must possess valid CPR and First Aid certifications
Ability to endure tasks that require mobility and keep up with the demands of active children
Education and Other Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Required completion of Food Handlers Certification within 30 days of hire.
Must pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle report, and reference checks
Must have a clean driving record/ have automobile insurance coverage and, be insurable/ have at least three years of verifiable driving experience.
Ability to work untraditional hours, evenings, and weekends.
Ability to lift/carry/move a minimum of 40 lbs. for an extended distance.

The Third Mate under general supervision, operates, ships equipment and systems and performs other duties as directed by the Captain/Chief Mate relevant to the license they hold.
