Position Summary
The LoanOfficer is a trusted financial advocate at Montana Credit Union, responsible for guiding members through lending solutions that empower their financial futures. This role involves interviewing applicants, analyzing credit worthiness, approving or denying loans within authority, and ensuring members fully understand their financial options. The LoanOfficer also assists with accounting services and supports other transactional needs to deliver seamless and personalized member experience.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct loan interviews, analyze credit worthiness using the 5 C's, and recommend appropriate lending solutions.
Underwrite and decision consumer loans, including calculating DTI/GMDI and preparing clear well documented credit write ups.
Close and disburse loans accurately while ensuring members understand terms and optional protection products.
Open and service member accounts, cards, and related products with accuracy and professionalism.
Maintain complete, compliant loan files and documentation in alignment with credit union policies and regulations.
Identify and escalate potential fraud or risk concerns while adhering to regulatory and internal standards.
Deliver exceptional member service by educating members, building relationships, and matching products to individual needs.
Support branch operations by resolving account issues, assisting teammates, and contributing to continuous process improvements.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
1-2 years of experience as a loanofficer or in a financial services/lending role preferred.

Position Overview:
The Outside Loan Originator (“Outside LO”) is responsible for maintaining an NMLS license required under the S.A.F.E. Act of 2008, originating and processing real estate mortgage loans in accordance with CrossCountry Mortgage, LLC (“CCM”) processes and product guidelines.
Job Responsibilities:

Organizational Relationships: Reports to Commercial Loan Servicing Manager
Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A
General Function: Process disclosures and closing disclosures for commercial loans according to regulation and WCU policy. Assist Originators with member contact regarding their loan application and any additional information needed to process the application. Offer clerical and customer service support to commercial lending department in general.
Position Functions:
Follow all established Commercial Lending procedures as explained and trained by appropriate Member Business Lending personnel.
Maintain ongoing communication with supervisor, informing them of all pertinent problems, new developments, and other important information.
Perform all relevant tasks and projects as requested and required by supervisor and department need.
Answer all incoming telephone calls to Commercial Lending Department, and direct incoming telephone calls to appropriate personnel.
Set up new Commercial Loan files and print loan documents for signature.
Input new loan data to document preparation system from loan set-up sheets.
Book loans and have loan disbursement checks prepared.
Complete credit reports, flood certifications, and ordering of title insurance, appraisals and CMA for Commercial LoanOfficers as needed.
Perform account maintenance on loan system.
Prepare extensions and modifications.
Notarize documents for Members and Commercial LoanOfficers as needed.
Assist LoanOfficers with all Commercial Loan-related issues.
Oversee and follow through on all required correspondence.
Maintain tracking of all financial files.
Assist in maintaining supplies inventory.
Maintain knowledge of all loan types, regulatory requirements, internal policies and procedures, and all Whitefish Credit Union products and services.
Report to work on time and as scheduled.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
Possession of general math skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing and over the phone with all internal and external stakeholders. Courtesy and tact are essential.
Ability and willingness to interact calmly and professionally with people from all backgrounds.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize and organize day-to-day responsibilities with attention to detail and timeliness.
