Location: Visalia/Tulare, CA Job Responsibilities: Enforce a safety culture that ensures a safe working environment for all employees that goes beyond complying with state and federal regulations. Maintains facility and assets to meet regulatory guidelines (USDA, FDA, OSHA, EPA). Develops preventative maintenance procedures that are cost-effective and increase the operational life of the equipment. Partners with the Maintenance Manager to evaluate long-term needs concerning major projects and plant improvements. Assists with the development of the capital program for equipment replacement in the plant. Collaborates with the Maintenance Manager, Plant Engineer, and Plant Management Team to utilize equipment to improve employee safety, production quality, equipment reliability, and overall equipment effectiveness. Develops corrective actions identified by key maintenance performance indicators to create overall equipment effectiveness. Oversee external contractors for repair, maintenance, and installation projects, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule compliance. Coordinate closely with engineering and production to align on project goals and execution plans. Technical Maintenance & Repairs Perform and/or supervise emergency and scheduled maintenance on mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and building systems. Troubleshoot issues using instrumentation, control panels, and diagnostic tools. Conduct repairs and calibrations on pumps, valves, heat exchangers, compressors, and other key equipment. Move, adjust, and calibrate control systems to maintain process variables including temperature, flow, pressure, and vacuum. Routinely inspect equipment to identify leaks, wear, damage, or other maintenance needs. Safety & Compliance Ensure all work is performed in compliance with OSHA, NFPA, local and federal safety regulations. Promote a culture of safety; lead safety audits and risk assessments as needed. Maintain electrical and equipment safety practices; proactively address hazards. Participate in plant safety, health, and environmental programs. Other Responsibilities Maintain plant cleanliness and organization in all maintenance areas. Support continuous improvement efforts related to maintenance processes and asset reliability. Be available for overtime or emergency call-ins as needed. Perform other duties as assigned by the Site Qualifications A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Five (5) years' industrial maintenance experience. Experience with industrial coolers, hammer mills, grain flakers, coolers, cleaners, belt conveyors, screw conveyors, drag conveyors, fans, and bucket elevators preferred. Previous lead or supervisory experience required. Skills Understanding of plant operational processes and procedures (e.g. routine and emergency start-up and shutdown practices). Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work both independently and as a team. Familiarity with industrial equipment operations and care. Mechanical experience. Electrical experience. Pneumatic experience. Hydraulic experience. Welding experience. PC/PLC experience preferred. Forklift experience. Manlift experience. Front Loader experience. Knowledgeable of PPE's and Fall Protection. Knowledgeable in Lockout Tagout (Machine Specific). Proficiency with basic computer software preferred. Demonstrated interpersonal skills. Ability to work with all levels within the organization and the ability to work in a diverse group. Ability to write detailed repair reports as well as good verbal communication skills. Physical Requirments Regularly lift and/or move objects weighing up to 60 pounds. Regularly climb ladders and occasionally work at heights of 100 feet. Environment Regularly exposed to work near moving parts/equipment. Regularly exposed to major amounts of dust. Regularly exposed to a moderate to severe noise levels. Frequently exposed to outdoor/uncontrolled weather conditions. Occasionally exposed to chemicals used in the manufacturing process.
