Job Duties

Job Description:
The Construction Materials Technician is responsible for the testing of asphalt to ensure adherence to federal, state, and/or customer specifications. This position works with asphalt plant personnel, construction personnel, and governmental agencies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (KMI will train/mentor):
Perform asphalt testing and analysis
Perform aggregate sampling and testing
Perform density testing on asphalt pavements
Complete governmental and customer reports for test results

Job Duties
The Inventory Arborist Technician will deliver essential services and solutions to our government, commercial, and non-profit clients, helping them efficiently and effectively manage trees and urban forests. This includes inspecting trees and vegetation and identifying common defects. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Identify species and measure tree size, and recognize indicators of common diseases and pest infestations.
Prescribe appropriate tree work needed to mitigate risk.
Collect tree and site data in the field using handheld computers.
Walk areas along city street right-of-way, universities, golf courses, zoos, and cemeteries.
Work in an outdoor environment (95%+).
Ensure clear and effective communication with clients and co-workers.
Conduct administrative tasks.
Qualifications
Urban forestry educational discipline or experience preferred.
International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Arborist Certification is required.
Proficient working knowledge of computers, including GIS systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google's suite of applications.
Ability to identify regional tree species.
Current Driver's License and driving record in good standing.
Ability to read and follow GIS data and maps.
Ability to work independently and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to work and hike in urban terrain and inclement weather.
Ability to work independently, be adaptable, and manage all project field tasks.
Ability to travel for extended periods of time
Additional Information
Starting hours pay based on experience. Starting pay range: $22-25 per hour.

The Construction Materials Technician is responsible for the testing of asphalt to ensure adherence to federal, state, and/or customer specifications. This position works with asphalt plant personnel, construction personnel, and governmental agencies.
Location: Upper Sandusky, Ohio
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (KMI will train/mentor):
Perform asphalt testing and analysis
Perform aggregate sampling and testing
Perform density testing on asphalt pavements
Complete governmental and customer reports for test results
Communicate testing results to the plant, construction personnel, and government agencies
Investigate customer complaints regarding discrepancies between test results and asphalt received
Other duties as assigned
Skills and Abilities (KMI will train/mentor):
Strong attention to detail
Possess good mathematical skills
Knowledge of asphalt quality control processes
Experience with asphalt lab equipment
Knowledge of paving process
Physical Demands:
Lifting asphalt samples +/-50 lbs daily
Occasionally requires lifting over 75lbs
Ability to stand / walk +/-8 hours
Construction setting
Work Environment:
Variable working hours
Must be able to travel
Must be able to work nights and weekends (shift differential)
Must have reliable transportation (mileage reimbursement program included with position)
Qualifications and Experience:
ODOT Level 2 or ODOT Level 3 certification is preferred but not required
