Physician Assistant is a health care professional licensed to practice medicine with physician supervision. As part of their comprehensive responsibilities, Physician Assistants in the Urgent Care/Occupational health setting will conduct physical exams, diagnose and treat illnesses, prescribe medication, order and interpret diagnostic test to identify and assess the patient?s clinical diagnosis and health care needs. The Physician Assistant will counsel on preventative health care, educate patients about health promotion, disease prevention, lifestyle modification, and management of chronic disease processes. The Physician Assistant will perform treatments/procedures within their scope of practice. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Participates in and facilitates care of Occupational Health and Urgent Care patients. Is knowledgeable of medical procedures and terminology Obtains comprehensive patient histories. Performs physical examinations, including audiometry screening, routine visual screening, and pelvic, rectal, and genital-urinary examinations when indicated. Initiates, requests and/or performs routine laboratory, radiologic and diagnostic studies as indicated. Identifies normal and abnormal findings on histories, physical examinations, and commonly performed initial laboratory studies. Reviews health records and assesses medical conditions. Assesses patients. Develops treatment plans for patients Monitors the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions. Communicates clearly, medical information to professional practitioners. Provides patient education and responds to questions in a tactful and professional manner. Screens patients to aid the supervising physician in determining need for further medical attention. Performs developmental screening examinations on children as relating to nervous, motor, and mental functions. Provides consistent and excellent care. Performs care and suturing and removal of sutures of minor lacerations. Is knowledgeable of drugs and their indications, contraindications, dosing, and side effects. Removes superficial foreign bodies after consultation with the supervising physician and under his direction. Carries out or relaying the supervising physician?s orders for medication, to the extent permitted under laws pertaining to drugs. Evidences the knowledge and ability to assess and interpret data about the patient?s growth and development in order to identify each patients? needs and provide the appropriate care, including age-related care, where appropriate Infant Pediatric Adolescence Adult Geriatric Maintains relationships with hospital staff and physicians of mutual trust and reliance. Works cooperatively with associates, supervisors and subordinates and supports hospital and departmental goals and objectives. Communicates effectively with patients, families, physicians, volunteers, co-workers, and all departments of the hospital in a pleasant and respectful style. Represents the hospital in a positive and professional manner. Displays good judgment in grooming, speech and personal hygiene. Adheres to appropriate dress codes. Wears required hospital identification badges. Attends hospital and departmental in-services and meetings as scheduled. Actively supports the Organizational Mission, Vision, and Values and promotes a Customer Service focus in their daily work. Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions; ensures compliance with Joint Commission and other external and internal regulatory agencies. Maintains the integrity of confidential patient information in accordance with HIPAA and hospital policy, including accessing, using and disclosing patient information relevant to the individual employee?s job duties. Also maintains confidentiality of other customer and hospital business affairs. They serve as a member of the interdisciplinary patient care team. * The HUC NA supports patients with activities of daily living and performs patient care skills as delegated by the licensed nurse within the Ohio Board of Nursing Scope of Practice. * The HUC NA also collaborates with unit leadership in coordinating the day-to-day activities of the patient care unit. This includes the processing of patient records and ongoing communication with nursing staff, physicians, and interdepartmental personnel.     The Division of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at Cincinnati Children's Hospital is looking for a part-time clinician to provide general medical care for children and adolescents with complex psychiatric problems on weeknights at our psychiatric inpatient facility. Cincinnati Children's College Hill Campus houses six inpatient units with a 83-bed capacity and three residential units with a 30-bed capacity. We also have a 16-bed unit at the Lindner Center of Hope (LCOH) in Mason that we are on call for overnight remotely; on site coverage at LCOH is not done. This Staff Physician III opportunity is built around a 20-hour per week framework. Flexibility exists regarding distribution of those hours during the weekdays but would expect commitment to a minimum of two weekdays per week. As a bonus, there will be no weekend coverage needs. Key Responsibilities: * Being available for seeing new admissions and completing documentation for history and physical * Acute medical assessments for existing patients * Follow-up on work pending from the daytime medical consult team (labs, x-rays, follow-up exams) * Provide hand-off by e-mail to the pediatricians working the next day * Maintain accurate and timely medical records in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
