TIS surgeons specialize in orthopedic surgery, back and spine surgery, pain management, ENT procedures, plastic surgery, foot and ankle surgery, urological surgical care, sports medicine and other specialties.
Purpose :The Medical Transcriptionist transcribes, edits and enters records dictated by providers into the EMR. The Medical Transcriptionist should have a high-understanding of medical terminology and understanding of the Book of Style Medical Transcription standards. The reports will include but not limited to: History and Physicials, Consultations, Operative Reports and Progress Notes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Listen to the recorded dictation of the provider and transcribe a completed medical report.
Translate medical abbreviations into appropriate form. Ensure that Book of Style standards for Transcription are met.
Follow patient confidentiality guidelines and legal documentation requirements.
Conduct QA of finished transcribed reports from the vendor. This includes listening to the entire recording and making the appropriate corrections, querying the provider when necessary.
Monitor daily dictation of Operative Reports, History and Physical, Progress Notes, Consults, etc. and transcribe the reports.
Work closely with medical records staff to ensure timely transcription of patient medical records, which include notification of STAT requests.
Enter completed reports into the EMR.
Use a variety of research methods for correct spelling, terminology of medical procedures, supplies, etc.
Maintain an accuracy of 98%-99% quality standard
Qualifications
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Training :
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Some college preferred
Experience:
Minimum of 4-5 years of proven prior experience of medical transcription for Orthopedics/Plastics, Cosmetics, and Internal Medicine.
Minimum of 3-4 years of electronic medical record (EMR) experience required
Experience with using CPSI preferred.
Knowledge of AHDI Book of Style for Medical Transcription

RESPONSIBILITIES
Hospital Corpsmen (HM) assist health care professionals in providing medical care to Navy personnel and their families.
