This role is approximately 50% field-based, working directly with operations and craft professionals to reinforce safe work practices across active jobsites. The ideal candidate is comfortable leading short safety talks, supporting new hire onboarding, and serving as a visible safety presence rather than a clipboard-only role.
Key Responsibilities
Spend roughly 50% of time in the field engaging with crews and operations leadership
Conduct regular jobsite safety walks and observations
Lead new hire safety orientations (up to 10 per month, ~15 minutes each)
Deliver short safety talks and stand-up presentations with confidence
Support incident prevention through coaching, not policing
Assist with safety documentation, reporting, and compliance efforts

Qualifications & Certifications
3+ years of construction safety experience preferred
OSHA 500 and/or OSHA 510 preferred but not required

Job Overview
Are you passionate about safety and sustainability in a fast-paced manufacturing environment? We're looking for a proactive Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our team and lead the charge in maintaining a safe, healthy, and compliant workplace.
In this role, you'll partner with operations and leadership to implement EHS programs, promote best practices, and ensure we meet all regulatory requirements-while helping us build a strong safety culture from the ground up.
Essential Duties
Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements
Conduct safety audits, job hazard analyses, and routine inspections
Investigate incidents and lead root cause analysis and follow-up actions
Deliver safety training and onboarding for plant employees and supervisors
Maintain accurate EHS documentation (SDS, OSHA 300 logs, permits, etc.)
Champion environmental initiatives-waste reduction, energy savings, and pollution prevention
Collaborate with teams on safety improvements and project planning
Support internal and external EHS audits and ISO certifications (if applicable)
Track and report EHS performance metrics

Essential Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
5+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
Working knowledge of OSHA/EPA standards and EHS best practices
Strong communication skills and ability to engage with all levels of the workforce
Self-directed individual with the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently
Comfortable using Microsoft Office and EHS software systems
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications like CSP, ASP, or CHMM are a big plus
Experience with Laser Cutting, Powder Coating, and Finishing
Steel furniture manufacturing experience

REQUIREMENTS
* Proven experience leading environmental health and safety projects.
* 5+ years of EHS related experience in an industrial setting
* Bachelor's degree in environmental health, occupational health and safety, or a related field or equivalent combination of experience and education.
* Experience with State and Federal environmental, health and safety regulations.
* Experience with EHS Data Management Systems and managing a Behavioral Observation process.
* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with a wide variety of audiences.
* Proven ability to thrive with limited guidance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
* Exceptional ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams' organization-wide.
