The Goal of CECOM:SEC is to provide disabled employees access to and use of information technology and electronic data, comparable to that of the employees and members of the public without disabilities. The CECOM:SEC mission is to ensure operational readiness by developing, providing, integrating and maintaining Army C5ISR , logistics and business software by providing a trusted high performing team who lives the Army values and delivers software to enable the Expeditionary Army. Specifically, ASL - Interpreter services will be primarily performed onsite at Aberdeen Proving Ground. Requirements Qualifications · Bachelor's degree and 3+ years professional experience working as a certified sign language interpreter in a variety of professional and business settings. · Current RID National Certification including compliance with any national, state, or local licensure and/or certification requirements. · Ability to write at 96% accuracy at 180 words per minute. · Must have reliable transportation to travel between different work sites. · Top-Secret security clearance. While having an active clearance is not required at the time of hire, staff interpreters must be able to obtain and maintain a national security clearance, sponsored by MAIG, in order to remain qualified for this position at all times. · Must be able to be placed on a majority of MAIG customer contracts in the Washington Metro Area and Virginia. · Must possess and maintain national certification. These are “1099” (Independent Contractor) positions with the interpretation to take place on site (OS), via video (VRI) or over the phone (OPI), depending on our customers' specific needs. Interpreter Functions: • Serve as an Interpreter between a wide range of people with diverse voices, accents, speaking tempos and personalities. • Provide parties with clear and exact interpretations of verbal communication with no additions or omissions. • Provide interpretations of questions, answers, statements, arguments, explanations, and other forms of verbal communication. • Render sight translations of documents and other written materials, as needed. • Impart thought, purpose, spirit, emotions, and tone of speaker from source language into target language, and vice -versa. • Inform relevant parties of any factor that may hinder your performance. • Comply with applicable ethics and standards. Requirements Medical Interpreter MINIMUM qualifications (medical settings): • At least two (2) years of interpreting experience, paid or as a volunteer • Two (2) relevant professional references that can vouch for the candidate's work as an interpreter OR one (1) relevant professional reference and one (1) relevant professional letter of recommendation • Native -level proficiency in English and another language. • Certification as a medical interpreter from a 40 -hour program or equivalent, specifically for medical interpreting (i.e., CHIT Community Healthcare Interpreter Training) • Valid driver's license, or any government -issued valid form of identification. Desired but not required: • University degree in interpretation If available, interpreters should provide proof of: • Certifications • Test results from other organizations (testing centers, other LSPs, etc.).
