$30 - $35/ Hour The Educational Sign Language Interpreter is a trained professional who facilities communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and others within an educational setting. Often, American Sign Language (ASL) is used to interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa, which ensures students have accommodations to classroom instruction, activities and learning discussions.
Minimum Requirements:
+ Proficiency in American Sign Language
+ Associates degree or Bachelors degree in interpreting, deaf studies or related field, preferred
+ State Board of Education Initial Sign Language Interpreter Certificate (as applicable)
+ Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) certificate (as applicable per state regulation or client requirement)
+ Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification ( as applicable per state regulation or client requirement)
+ Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
+ Current CPR if applicable

Provide accurate oral interpretations for spoken languages for Limited English Proficient (LEP) patients, their families, and Corewell Health employees in-person, over-the-phone, and via videoconferencing throughout the hospital and clinics.
