• Responsible for screening telephone referrals. • Performs psychosocial evaluation and assessment of mental health service needs of identified patients and their families through professional knowledge, skills of observation and interviewing. • Develops and implements short-term service plans for patients, in conjunction with other members of the Program. • Provides counseling, care management and appropriate referrals for long term and supplemental treatment. • Prepares case histories and prepares and maintains case records, in accordance with the Program record-keeping mechanism. • Encourages resistant clients to accept mental health services through interventions with clients and/or family members and friends concerned with the client's welfare. • Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings and case conferences of the Program. • Provides referral and provision of information to appropriate long-term mental health services and social services and social services providers, or long-term residential facilities. • Coordinates and follows up on linkages made between clients and other service agencies and mental health providers to ensure continuity of care. • Liaison with, and consultation to, community agencies. • Provides outreach services as part of the Program to mentally ill individuals in the community who are experiencing, or are at risk of, psychosocial difficulties and require mental health intervention in their home. • Serves as resource person to the program and other components of the Agency, when requested, pertaining to psychiatric nursing. • Participates with the team and other appropriate Agency staff in the development and implementation of an in-service training component. • Assists and collaborates with the Program Coordinator in the overall functioning of the service. • Assumes Program Coordinator's functions in his/her absence, as requested. • Participates in community programs and education, as requested. • Contributes to the formulation of clinical and administrative policies and procedures and the preparation of policy and procedure manuals, as required. • May provide clinical supervision for Mental Health Technician, graduate Social Worker students or junior staff Social Workers. • Monitors mental status of Senior Citizens accepted to the program. • For Mobile Crisis - Adult (4711) FLOAT Team Only: Assists other Mobile Crisis Agencies across the five boroughs with 24-hour notice. This means you'll be part of a flexible response team, ready to provide crisis intervention and psychosocial support wherever needed in NYC. This requires adaptability and strong coordination skills. • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

The Language Services Unit provides interpretation, transcription, and translation services for witnesses, victims, and defendants at DANY for the investigation and prosecution of criminal cases. Under supervision, the Spanish Interpreter is responsible for interpreting and translating bi-directionally between Spanish and English and producing accurate transcriptions/translations.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Provide consecutive and simultaneous interpretation bi-directionally between English and Spanish telephonically, via video remote, and in-person as required at interviews, Grand Jury presentations, community presentations, among others, both onsite and offsite, for which mature and tactful behavior is required.
* Translate a variety of materials in both language directions, including but not limited to legal documents, personal statements, press releases, general forms/letters, etc.
* Transcribe and translate audio and video recordings using industry related equipment and software to produce accurate transcriptions and translations such as: transcription foot pedal and multi-media players such as VLC and Audacity; computer applications such as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint as well as Adobe; and/or computer-assisted translation tools.
* Proofread translations and transcriptions. Perform effective research on terminology as needed.
* Render court testimony on translations and transcriptions as needed.
* Process requests for language services and update Unit database.
* Perform related tasks as necessary.
* Adhere to all DANY employee policies as well as Unit standards and best practices related to interpretation and translations.
In addition to the Minimum Qualification Requirements, all candidates must possess the following:
* Level 1 - bachelor's degree, preferably in translation and interpretation.

Responsibilities:
Manages flow of communication autonomously and efficiently between source and target language during medical and non-medical healthcare encounters across URMC's diverse and numerous clinical specialties in inpatient and ambulatory settings.
- Interpreter carries a pager assigned by the hospital responding to all pages established in NYS Code of Rules and Regulations 405.7 (20 minutes for outpatient/inpatient, 10 minutes for Emergency Department. Services are provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week over varied shifts. On-call interpreters are minimally expected to work two weekend coverage shifts of four hours apiece, or one shift of eight hours.
- Interprets all assignments, whether prescheduled or received via pager, in a timely and professional manner in accordance with hospital policy
- Weighs the goals of each encounter in collaboration with clinical healthcare providers and non-clinical hospital staff to determine the situational context of the patient interaction.
- Chooses appropriate communication ground rules and methods, informs all parties of the role of the interpreter, and briefs healthcare professionals on any knowledge possessed by the interpreter regarding the patient or encounter.
- Assesses and recommends most effective communication method for patients with barriers to communication, altered mental status, or other special communication needs. Verifies patient's preferred language is correctly identified.

The New York County District Attorney's Office (DANY) has an immediate opening for a Spanish-English Interpreter in its Language Services Unit in Support Services. The Language Services Unit provides interpretation, transcription, and translation services for witnesses, victims, and defendants at DANY for the investigation and prosecution of criminal cases. Under supervision, the Spanish Interpreter is responsible for interpreting and translating bi-directionally between Spanish and English and producing accurate transcriptions/translations.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Provide consecutive and simultaneous interpretation bi-directionally between English and Spanish telephonically, via video remote, and in-person as required at interviews, Grand Jury presentations, community presentations, among others, both onsite and offsite, for which mature and tactful behavior is required.
Translate a variety of materials in both language directions, including but not limited to legal documents, personal statements, press releases, general forms/letters, etc.
Transcribe and translate audio and video recordings using industry related equipment and software to produce accurate transcriptions and translations such as: transcription foot pedal and multi-media players such as VLC and Audacity; computer applications such as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint as well as Adobe; and/or computer-assisted translation tools.
Proofread translations and transcriptions. Perform effective research on terminology as needed.
Render court testimony on translations and transcriptions as needed.
Process requests for language services and update Unit database.
Perform related tasks as necessary.
Adhere to all DANY employee policies as well as Unit standards and best practices related to interpretation and translations.
In addition to the Minimum Qualification Requirements, all candidates must possess the following:
Level 1 - bachelor's degree, preferably in translation and interpretation.
Level 2 - bachelor's degree, preferably in translation and interpretation and court interpreter certification or two (2) years of experience in general or legal translation and/or interpretation.
*Master's degree in translation and/or interpretation can be substituted for years of experience. *
