Learn more at ************** Job Description IPTACS Seeks an American Sign language (ASL) - Interpreter at the The Communications and Electronics Command: Software Engineering Center (CECOM: SEC) in Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland to provide reasonable accommodations for hearing impaired employees to ensure compliance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, the American Disabilities Act and Presidential Executive Order 13164. The Goal of CECOM:SEC is to provide disabled employees access to and use of information technology and electronic data, comparable to that of the employees and members of the public without disabilities. The CECOM:SEC mission is to ensure operational readiness by developing, providing, integrating and maintaining Army C5ISR , logistics and business software by providing a trusted high performing team who lives the Army values and delivers software to enable the Expeditionary Army. Specifically, ASL - Interpreter services will be primarily performed onsite at Aberdeen Proving Ground. CECOM:SEC occupies several administrative facilities to include buildings 6002 of the C5ISR Complex; however, interpretative services may be required in various public facilities on the installation for Workforce Briefings, Awards Ceremonies, etc. Authorized staff will escort the contractor to other locations on the base. The contractor shall be required to get a pass upon entering APG at the Visitor Center located at either Aberdeen North or Aberdeen South (Edgewood). The Interpreting Service begin upon arrival at the CECOM offices located in the C5ISR campus. The ASL- interpreter will function as an independent contractor and not as an agent of the government and shall possess skills, knowledge, training, and experience to perform the required tasks. Benefits: None - This is a 1099 Contract Position Typical Week Schedule: Core business hours are from 0700-1700, (Monday through Friday). Business operations requiring the use of an interpreter will be limited to 0800-1630 for a maximum of thirty-eight (38) events per period. Qualifications Criteria - ASL - Interpreter Must Have The Following Qualifications A minimum of five (5) years' of full-time relevant work experience, defined as a minimum of five (5) years of full-time employment within the last fifteen (15) years working as an American Sign language interpreter with proof of certification in American Sign Language and three (3) years of experience in submitting proposals. The candidate must be able to preserve the tone and emotional level of the speaker, as well as manage the delivery, speed and length of the statement of the speaker.
