Job Qualifications

Thorough understanding of Deaf culture
In-depth knowledge of and adherence to the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct
Excellent spelling/vocabulary

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Required Bachelor's degree.
Required ITP (Interpreting Training Program- must have passed written RID test) RID/NAD NIC Knowledge test must have passed.
Two or three years of interpreting experience with individuals who are DeafBlind and/or deaf-visually impaired.
Must obtain RID/NAD NIC certification within 5 years of employment.
Proficiency in methods of communication utilized by individuals who are DeafBlind.
Some evening hours will be scheduled based upon students or staff needs and must be flexible with travel when needed.
