We are seeking a software engineering manager to join a new team tasked with modernizing the enterprise notification systems on our cloud platform. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with the technical knowledge to take a legacy system and bring it into the modern age. When fully organized, the team will consist of 5-8 individuals and work very closely with other teams in our Enterprise Shared Services group. This is a remote position, but candidates must live within approximately a 70-mile radius of our office locations in Allen, TX; Birmingham, AL; Cedar Falls, IA; Charlotte, NC; Lenexa, KS; Louisville, KY; Springfield, MO; or Monett, MO. The salary range for this position is $112,000- $170,000. This posted salary range reflects the minimum and maximum base pay we reasonably expect to offer for this role at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary above or below this range and is subject to change in the future. Individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to: relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, work schedule, travel requirements, sales or revenue targets, and overall business needs and affordability. All positions, regardless of location, may require an onsite interview or in-person onboarding requirement to verify your identity. What you'll be responsible for: * Oversees the definition and documentation of business and technical design requirements. Oversees the preparation of design specifications, analysis, and recommendations. * Takes responsibility for products from conceptualization to deployment, with oversight of all elements of product including security, architecture, scalability, and performance. * Ensures all projects are delivered on time, within budget and within a high level of corporate quality standards. * Performs continuous review of technologies, industry standards, and industry-related developments and makes recommendations relative to the need for further research and associated changes. * Coordinates work and services with other IS departments, contract service providers, and vendors. * Provides consistent leadership to each individual; sets objectives; reviews performance, produces career development plans, and addresses concerns. * Serves on Product Review Committees, Technology Review Committees, and/or other committees, as required. * Plans and leads the development of new software products and/or enhancements. * Oversees the analysis, design, development, and maintenance of software solutions. * Ensures all software solutions and enhancements are fully tested, debugged, and meet product quality standards before releasing to QA. * Ensures technology solutions support the needs of the customer and/or organization. * Creates or helps create product roadmaps. * May serve as an expert on software architecture and programming principles. * Performs other duties as assigned. What you'll need to have: * A minimum of 5 years of experience in software or infrastructure engineering. * A minimum of 2 years of experience programming in .Net and/or Go. * Experience in AWS, Azure, and/or GCP. * Experience with containerization and/or continuous integration/deployment. * Experience as a manager, supervisor, or team lead. * Ability to travel up to 10% for meetings and conferences. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for building an engineering team and conducting management responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable laws pertaining to hiring; determining department procedures; assigning and directing work; providing training; appraising performance; rewarding and providing positive corrective action when needed; resolving employee issues; providing input for and administering department budget. Utilizes the application of extensive and diversified knowledge of engineering practices to plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate development of the engineering work for all design, modification, and/or construction of natural gas transmission pipelines, distribution systems, and related appurtenances. Responsible for preparation, evaluation and approval of engineering drawings, details, construction specifications, contract and bid documents, and contractor procurement, including selection and coordination with consulting engineers and vendors. Meets with general public and/or developers, landowners, interest groups, and regulatory bodies concerning zoning, expansion projects, and engineering regulations, etc. Accountable for the successful implementation and completion of engineering objectives in construction projects by managing project issues, budgets and schedules requiring numerous interactions with consulting firms, construction contractors, government officials, and other departments within the Company. Responsible for project status reports to Summit management team. Performs occasional field work to perform construction inspection for compliance with company standards. Work closely with construction, procurement, outside consultants, and contractors to define the detailed project scope of work; and the goals and deliverables that support the company's business objectives. Ensure the proper planning of all capital and maintenance construction projects. Support overall project performance (quality, scope, schedule, cost, communication, resource issues & risks). Manage long-term asset planning to support growth and system reliability through collaboration with Business Development and Operations and performing hydraulic model analysis. Provide all required engineering support to facilitate the safe and reliable operation of natural gas transmission and distribution systems. Participate in national level initiatives to lend engineering support to enhance and streamline processes and systems. EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering Minimum of five years of engineering experience involving pipeline design, project management, and construction administration. Certification as a registered Professional Engineer, preferably in Missouri and/or Colorado KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES Strong leadership and management skills demonstrated by using appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to guide individuals or groups toward goal achievement. Ability to make decisions independently on engineering problems and methods. Project Management knowledge and skills exhibited by the ability to proficiently develop and complete a design plan while having the adaptability to make appropriate changes when required. Excellent organizational and planning skills required with demonstrated quality and thoroughness on each assignment. Exhibit a high level of attention to detail in all facets of work. Job-Specific Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Create, update, unit test, and maintain IBM COBOL programs - Update documentation such as Functional Specification Packages (FSPs) or Program Requirements Packages (PRPs) and/or Visio diagrams, and/or spreadsheets as needed - Track requirements and create/execute unit test cases - Write, analyze, review and/or provide comments on documentation such as Unified Work Requests (UWR), UWR responses and Internal Revenue Manuals (IRM), Interface Control Documents (ICD) Computer Operator Handbooks (COH) - Rewrite programs, using workflow charts and diagrams, and applying knowledge of computer capabilities, tax processing subject matter expertise, and symbolic logic. - Perform or direct the revision, repair, or expansion of existing programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements - Consult with managerial, engineering, and technical personnel to clarify program intent, identify problems, and suggest changes - Perform systems analysis and programming tasks to maintain and control the use of computer systems software - Compile and write documentation of program development and subsequent revisions, inserting comments in the coded instructions so others can understand the program - Prepare detailed workflow charts and diagrams that describe input, output, and logical operation, and convert them into a series of instructions coded in a computer language - Consult with and assist testers in the development, SAT and FIT environments Minimum Requirements - Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study and 5+ years of relevant professional experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
