Suhner was founded in 1939 by Paul Suhner.
In the years after 1948, the company opened new branches in Tiefe near Herisau, in Schwellbrunn, and later on in Winkeln.
Walter Suhner took over the company from his father in 1952, the company expanded further and started with the manufacture of machinery for ham production.
The newly developed brine injection machine proved to be a great sales success and soon inquiries from all over the world started to come in. Thus, the first injector in Europe was built by Suhner in 1967.
Production for the Latin America region started in Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil in 1999.
The opening of the Witzberg compounding facility in Pfäffikon, Switzerland in 2011 was one of the largest single projects in the company history of HUBER+SUHNER. HUBER+SUHNER began to manufacture special compounds for cable insulation using its own recipe.
