We are seeking an experienced Project Superintendent to lead the field execution of commercial construction projects. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Implement and manage the on-site execution of job plans in coordination with the Project Manager and General Superintendent
Organize and oversee project site logistics (e.g., signage, security, staging)
Manage and update project schedules on a weekly basis
Coordinate RFIs, submittals, and construction drawings
Lead weekly subcontractor meetings and attend client/design partner meetings
Promote and enforce job site safety policies, creating and implementing safety plans in collaboration with the General Superintendent
Conduct weekly safety meetings and proactively address safety issues on-site
Maintain detailed daily logs of subcontractor activities and project progress using project management software (e.g., Autodesk or Procore)
Manage project scope and schedule changes
Ensure compliance with company procedures to maintain safety, quality, and schedule commitments
Participate in punch walk meetings and project close-out processes.
Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, clients, and industry professionals
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience & Skills
At least 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent in commercial construction (10 years preferred)
Proven track record managing projects across various commercial markets
Strong understanding of commercial construction sequencing, drawings, and specifications
Knowledge of foundations, structural framing, MEP systems, and how systems interact
Familiarity with fire, sprinkler, alarm, and safety systems
Experience working in occupied Class A buildings
Ability to manage multiple smaller projects simultaneously
Strong safety record and experience overseeing self-performed work
Ability to work with urgency while maintaining high quality standards
Excellent communication (verbal and written) and leadership skills
Proficiency in MS Office; Microsoft Project experience preferred
Experience with field-based project management software, particularly Autodesk or Procore, is highly desirable
Education & Certifications
OSHA 30 preferred (or willing to obtain during training)
LEED Green Associate accreditation or higher is a plus
Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred
Valid Driver's License required

Working Conditions
Position located at 320 E. 12th Street, Marysville, Yuba County.

Incumbent when performing office duties will work in a climate controlled office setting under artificial lighting; however due to periodic problems with the heating and air conditioning systems, the building temperature may fluctuate. Incumbent will be exposed to computers, various lighting conditions, and stand or sit for prolonged periods; must be able to work at a keyboard and focus on complex tasks for long periods of time and must be able to organize and prioritize large volumes of work and documents.
Travel throughout the District will be required. Assignments in the field will be required where exposure to high speed traffic will occur. Incumbent will be required to extensively walk in the field to review various issues such as landscape irrigation problems and landscape construction reviews. When performing fieldwork the incumbent shall wear required personal protective equipment in accordance to rules and regulations set forth by Caltrans Safety Manual and Caltrans Maintenance Manual.
The incumbents normal working hours will be set between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm. Incumbent must be able to work independently or in a group environment. May be required to work overtime due to storms, emergencies, special work projects, or when the Supervisor deems that it is in the best interest of the State to work overtime.
This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans's evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. **Overview**
The Superintendent is responsible to provide complete project field leadership and direction for day-to-day operations of the assigned project(s),in partnership with the Project Manager. In addition to the California Department of Human Resources' specifications for the classification, the incumbent must be able to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Must be able to make effective presentations to large and small groups; responding appropriately to questions and concerns. Must be able to relate the vision, mission and goals of the Maintenance program to the goals and objectives of the IMMS program. Must be able to develop expertise necessary for the analysis, review and recommendations for modifications to the IMMS system. Must also be able to effectively plan, schedule and prioritize work. Must be a motivated team player with good technical and interpersonal skills. Must be able to effectively facilitate meetings to achieve stated objectives. Must have the ability to motivate field personnel without direct supervisory responsibility.
The incumbent must be proficient in the use of IMMS, Microsoft Windows, and the standard Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must have a thorough understanding of Maintenance field operations, procedures and limitations. Must be familiar with Maintenance Manual Volumes I and 2, Whatfix, The Caltrans Safety Manual, Chapter 8, and Code of Safe Operating Practices (COSP).
Knowledge of effective planning and scheduling techniques, knowledge of the Level of Service process, Materials Management and Acquisitions (MMA), and Staff Central System.
