The program treats both problem types as primary and assists participants to recognize key reciprocal factors such as self-medicating strategies; physiological and psychological changes associated with long-term substance use; and the impact of street drugs on mental health symptoms. The Withdrawal Management (WM) Registered Nurse is responsible for the clinical monitoring of Withdrawal Management clients and leads a team including but not limited to licensed nurses and/or medical assistants and SUD counselors.     Registered Nurse I Department: Standalone Recovery Services Reports To: Director of Care Integration This position is primarily responsible for providing direct patient care services to a diverse patient population through the administration of medication, counseling, and health maintenance. Assesses patient's health needs and resources, and provides technical nursing care and interventions to designated patient populations. This position requires providing service to one or more age populations including adolescents and geriatric patients in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served. In addition, nurses shall have the ability to assess, treat, and appropriately interact and care for individuals with mental health and substance use disorders. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Tarzana Treatment Centers, Inc. (TTC). The employee is expected to demonstrate behavior consistent with the core values. The employee shall support TTC's strategic plan, and the goals and direction of the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP). The RN I level is determined at the time of interview by the Director of Nursing or designee and with the approval of the CEO. The RN I includes but is not limited to newly graduated, board certified, registered nurses, and nurses with minimal to no experience in Behavioral Health-related nursing care. The RN l has the opportunity for advancement to RN II. CATAGORIES OF DUTIES 1. Plans and delivers nursing assessments and interventions, related medication, and psychiatric diagnoses of the patient. 2. Completes pre-admission triage and determines appropriateness of admission. 3. Administers medications to patients consistent with medication policies, practices, and standards. Must have necessary computer skills to use electronic medication systems. 4. Competent in basic wound assessment and care. 5. Communicates significant changes in patient's condition in a timely manner. 6. Documents in patient's chart nursing goals, interventions, and clinical outcomes. Must be capable of charting in both electronic and manual patient records. 7. Functions as an active member of the treatment care planning team. 8. Responds to medical emergency situations. 9. Competently uses equipment necessary for the delivery of patient care including but not limited to: glucometer, defibrillator, EKG machine, intermittent suction, bag/mask, oxygen, restraints/seclusions. 10.Attends trainings as required for the position. 11.Works collaboratively with the RN Charge Nurse to assure optimum patient outcomes. 12.Able to provide wound care as ordered by a provider. 13.Able to identify and report medical issues observed or determined at admission OR observed or identified by staff and report to the Charge Nurse for follow up. 14.Able to input notes and take and transcribe provider orders in the electronic medical record or the patient's record. 15.Able to provide report to team regarding patient issues and care needs. 16.Understands the principles and ethics of nursing practice and applies them to daily work assignments. 17.Able to identify possible infections, report and document as appropriate, initiate standard precautions if needed. 18.Administers waived tests (urine pregnancy test, blood glucose test, UA drug screen, breath alcohol tester, and fentanyl urine screen) and maintains annual waived testing requirements/trainings as required. 19.Provides backup staffing for nursing roles in the Inpatient unit or Opioid Treatment Program. 20.Performs other job-related functions as may be assigned by the Director of Care Integration or CEO EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing Two (2) year recent acute care experience preferred; behavioral or substance use setting preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS An active California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) license as a Registered Nurse (RN) An active CPR certification.
