2009

The Tea Party movement’s first major action was a nationwide series of rallies on April 15, 2009, that drew more than 250,000 people.

Dark-horse candidate Scott Brown defeated Kennedy’s presumptive successor, Massachusetts attorney general Martha Coakley, in a race that shifted the balance in the Senate, depriving the Democrats of the 60-vote filibuster-proof majority they had held since July 2009.

2010

The Tea Party fared better in Massachusetts in January 2010, in the special election to fill the United States Senate seat left vacant by the death of Ted Kennedy.

In September 2010, the group announced it had received a $1 million donation from an anonymous donor.

In 2010, Tea Party Patriots was among the 12 most influential groups in the Tea Party movement according to the National Journal, and among the top five according to The Washington Post.

2012

In July 2012, the group's Atlanta chapter partnered with the Sierra Club and the NAACP to defeat a proposed transit tax in Atlanta.

In addition, both Rand Paul and Rubio were featured in prominent speaking slots at the 2012 Republican National Convention.
