PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Elementary Dance Teacher will develop and deliver engaging dance instruction to students in grades K-5, with a focus on fostering creativity, discipline, and a love for movement. While instruction will cover a variety of dance styles, a portion of the curriculum will emphasize ballet fundamentals, technique, and artistry appropriate for elementary learners. The teacher will create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment that encourages self-expression, teamwork, and physical fitness.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES?
Plan, prepare, and deliver age-appropriate dance lessons incorporating various dance genres, with a dedicated focus on ballet technique and fundamentals.
Teach basic ballet positions, terminology, posture, and movement sequences suitable for elementary students.
Integrate creative movement activities that enhance coordination, rhythm, flexibility, and self-confidence.
Prepare students for performances, showcases, and special events.
Maintain a safe and organized dance environment, ensuring proper use of equipment and adherence to safety guidelines.
Collaborate with other faculty members to integrate dance into interdisciplinary projects and school events.
Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support growth and skill development.
Promote positive classroom management strategies that encourage respect, cooperation, and engagement.

Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curriculum as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
Plan and supervise assignments of teacheraides(s) and volunteer(s).
Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the Campus Director.
Be a positive role model for students; support mission of school district.
Create and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social and emotional development of students and is congruent with the teaching philosophy, Board of Education policy and goals of the district.
Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
Encourage students to meet acceptable standards of classroom behavior as defined in the Student Code of Conduct

Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principal, and teachers.

Maintain records of student attendance and performance.
Maintain an accurate and up-to-date grade book and at any specified time student grade information can be produced.
Maintain records as required by law and district policy.
Uphold and enforce all school policies and state regulations.

Attend and participate in committee, team, departmental, faculty, and district meetings as required.

Instructional Support:
Help teacher create and maintain a neat, orderly, and structured classroom environment.
Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
Assist substitute teachers.
Help teacher document student data, keep administrative records, and prepare required reports.
Student Management:
Help manage student behavior, including crisis intervention and restraint of disruptive or dangerous students, according to student behavior intervention plans (BIP) and district policies and procedures.
Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students. Document and provide feedback on the effectiveness of behavioral intervention strategies implemented for students.
Recognize differences in each student's special medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs and adapt methods and interaction accordingly.
Supervise and ensure safety and security of students in the classroom, on outings, and to and from areas outside the classroom.
Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Display tolerance necessary for accepting supervision for and criticism of job performance.
Work in harmony with supervisory, faculty, and peer personnel.
Use professional information discreetly and judiciously.
Support and follow administrative and Board policy.
Represent the school system to the community in a positive, professional way.
Maintain a sincere, friendly attitude toward patrons.

The Assistant Teacher is a benefits eligible full-time position for the term of the school year, typically ten months from August to June. This position reports to the Principal. Assistant Teachers help to support a flexible program and class environment favorable to learning and personal growth by working closely with Lead Teachers. They build rapport with students and motivate them to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge in accordance with each student's ability. Assistant Teachers establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.
Responsibilities include the following:
Actively supports the Lead Teacher in implementing lessons using a variety of teaching techniques and learning structures suitable to the age and needs of the students and subject matter by conferring with individual students or teaching small groups.
Engages with students for at least 75% of the workday, using the remaining time for teacher preparation assistance.
Implements curricula within the context of the School's overall program and strategic planning goals such as incorporating the use of the outdoors, experiential learning, and leadership development through emotional intelligence.
Seeks opportunities to teach outside and bring the outdoors into the classroom.
Uses classroom technology effectively and according to the developmental appropriateness of the grade level. Technology usage is primarily active and creation oriented.
Performs duties outside of the classroom during set hours. This may include Recess, Morning, Rest Time, Carpool and Lunch duties amongst others.
Assumes the role of Lead Teacher in the absence of the Lead Teacher.
Maintains and continuously expands pedagogical knowledge using various resources.
Attends all full day in-service days and Assistant Teacher meetings as required by the Learning Specialist.
Attends department meetings as requested by the Department Chair.
Attends all Parent-Teacher Conferences.
Volunteer for service at one or more Fay community events per year.
Willing and able to routinely and appropriately use personal smartphone to utilize school apps to communicate, collaborate, and fulfill responsibilities as outlined in this Performance Profile.
Commitment to ongoing learning including participating in a summer reading book to be determined by the Principal.

Bachelor's degree

Ability to enthusiastically work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions including rain, cold, heat, etc. and on various surfaces, some inclined, including grass, dirt, trails, decking, pavement, and concrete.
Ability to perform sustained standing and walking, navigating stairs, kneeling, lifting, and carrying up to 20 lbs., monitoring children and the immediate environment visibly and audibly and the ability to give audible instructions that can be understood by English speakers in a loud environment.

Job Description - Assistant Teacher
JOB SUMMARY
An Assistant Teacher is responsible for supporting an Amazing Explorers Academy Lead Teacher with every aspect of managing and supervising a class of children. This includes creating an environment of learning that promotes the social, physical and intellectual growth of children, regardless of their age, background, or abilities.
He or she must be knowledgeable in developmentally appropriate practices and will assist teachers in maintaining safety and order among all children in their room at any given time, thus ensuring activities and the curriculum are adhered to as required by the Director. The Assistant Teacher must also be polite and responsive to the families of the students and be able to collaborate with other Assistant and Lead Teachers, as required, in order to foster the overall goals of Amazing Explorers Academy. All required training is paid and there is ample room for your personal growth and development within the organization.
JOB DUTIES, TASKS, AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Follows daily schedule and implements curriculum which includes communicating and interpreting both verbally and in writing in the English language
Maintains accurate child observation records and anecdotal notes for use during parent/teacher conferences to be held at minimum twice a year
Conducts formal and informal assessments periodically to ensure children are on track developmentally
Interacts with the children and models socially appropriate behavior in the classroom and on the playground. This may require frequent standing, kneeling, bending, stooping, and lifting to engage with the children
Communicates effectively and efficiently with families in a polite and respectful manner
Follows all safety and security policies and procedures and documents any accidents/incidents accordingly
Follows mandated reporting guidelines as established by the state
Supervises all children, regardless of home classroom, maintaining a secure and safe environment for children to play and learn
Maintains proper daily attendance records utilizing digital technology in the classroom including the AEA mobile APP, sending messages and updates to families throughout the school day
Maintains a safe and healthy environment adhering to all company procedures related to injuries and accidents and communicate any potential hazards to the Director
Prepares a safe, warm environment that is always orderly and clean
Promotes only positive interactions among teachers and children, treating everyone with respect and dignity by recognizing and considering the unique background of each person, including children with disabilities, special talents, interest, style or pace of learning, etc.
Plans curriculum and materials needed for the week prior to starting any program
Regularly opens and closes the assigned classroom in the morning and evening
Cleans the classroom by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning the restroom, sanitizing toys and surfaces, and disposing of trash
Helps with meal and snack preparation, feeding children, and modeling table manners by sitting with the children at family style meals.
Participates in accreditation goals and performs the associated classroom requirements to meet those goals, if applicable.
Maybe required to take additional training classes or courses as required by Amazing Explorers Academy or any state or regulatory agency
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 18 years old
Must meet state licensing requirements for education including maintaining in-service hours as required by state licensing agencies or accrediting bodies
Must meet all standards and requirements relating to education and experience as set by the state and accreditation agent
Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent
Prefer experience in a licensed or accredited child care center
Prefer Staff Credential or degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, but not required
Prefer CPR and First Aid certification, but not required
Must be able to communicate, both verbally and in writing, in the English language.
