Specific Responsibilities The Automation Technician Sr is a technical position under the direction and training of the automation foreman and is responsible for system integration, operation, and maintenance of all areas of automation systems and performs other related duties. The Automation Technician Sr uses extensive knowledge of DC Electronics with a basic knowledge of AC electrical systems associated with oil and gas production facilities. They also provide training and support to other technicians or operators. * Monitor and troubleshoot SCADA systems and controls. * Coordinate with contractors for the maintenance of VRU's, combustors and flare systems. * Troubleshoot and maintain existing emissions control systems, while also overseeing the installation and implementation of new emissions control systems. * Maintains good working relationships with various groups including production, water groups, and facilities engineering. * Oversee routine maintenance and troubleshooting on control systems to ensure reliable and efficient operations. * Oversee installation and configuration of control systems, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), remote terminal unit (RTU), and human-machine interfaces (HMIs). * Assist in the testing and commissioning of new control systems. Read and interpret technical documentation including electrical and pneumatic schematics, control narratives and loop drawings. * Ensure collaboration with other automation team members and cross-function teams to resolve technical issues. * Be willing to continually improve professional development including non-technical subjects such as, but not limited to, business communications, problem solving, corporate culture. Qualifications & Experience The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience: * High School Diploma required. * 10+ years of experience in automation * 5+ years' experience in Oil and Gas * Must have experience with ROCLink, IDEC, ABB, SCADAPak, RMC, and SignalFire wireless. * HMI experience required with IDEC, Red Lion, and Beijer. * Field communications experience with Cambium, Cradle Point and advanced skill in TCP/IP and MODBUS communications. * Must be highly organized and able to self-direct, multi-task and prioritize based on dynamic work environment requirements. * Strong application skills in Excel and Word required. * Elevated level of communication skills in both written and spoken format. WHAT YOU'LL DO: * Assist technicians on assignments through the repair process to ensure timely, cost effective and quality repairs are being completed. * Coordinate and work with Caterpillar engineers in resolving product issues. * Answer technical requests and inquiries to resolve product problems through diagnosis, personal knowledge and expertise, research, manufacturing contacts and engineering data. * Recognize, document and report product issues and assist in determining root cause that significantly affect customer satisfaction, productivity and/or operations. * Travels to customer sites within assigned region to assist in complex troubleshooting and ongoing issues to gain a better understanding of the specific repair and establish improvements in the repair process. * Attends necessary training in order to stay up to date on new products and challenges. * Utilizes Caterpillar system resources, such as SIS web, Product Support CRM (PSCRM), Dealer.Cat.com, Dealer Product Support Search (DPSS), Service Information Management System (SIMS I) /Continuous Product Improvement (CPI), to diagnose issues and evaluate possible solutions. * Proficient in using professional phone etiquette to field customer calls. WHAT YOU'LL NEED: * Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or five (5) year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. * Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. * Moderate computer skills. Familiar with web navigation, experience working with databases. * Must have valid drivers license and clean driving record. * Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. * Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. * Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. * Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Summary: The primary responsibility for the Equipment Technician position is collecting, analyzing, and reporting the health of rotating equipment based on multiple technologies including vibration, thermography, oil analysis, pump and motor performance, compressor and engine performance and key operating parameters. This position works closely with operations, engineers, specialists, and maintenance personnel in troubleshooting and repairs. This position will provide support for multiple sites. Essential duties and responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duties satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below: * Develop and maintain vibration analysis program. Establish equipment routes and frequency. Collect and enter equipment data necessary for proper vibration analysis. * Proficient with rotating and/or reciprocating equipment analysis techniques and perform as required * Proficient with motor and/or engine analysis techniques and perform as required * Develop and maintain lube oil analysis program establishing routes and frequency * Periodic (monthly, quarterly, etc.) data acquisition from equipment, including vibration data with portable systems, critical machinery performance metrics (flow rates, equipment rotating speed, temperatures, and process flow characteristics) and lube oil samples and analysis * Perform analysis of data to resolve or proactively anticipate equipment failures * Lead and/or assist in root cause failure analysis utilizing the TapRoot process * Implements continuous monitoring systems, such as alarm, report, and acceptance regions * Coordinate scheduling of repairs by taking ownership of notifications and corresponding follow-up * Monitor equipment repairs in the field and at vendor shops * Report equipment deficiencies in SAP system making recommendations for corrective action * Collaborate with responsible Maintenance/Reliability Specialist, engineers, planners, Operations Managers and supervisors to ensure proper priorities are placed on deficiencies and continuous learning/improvement process is fostered * Support the lubrication program by monitoring its effectiveness or, when required, take samples, interpret analysis and take corrective actions Required education: * High School Diploma or GED * Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level: * Level C requires a minimum of 0-2 years of relevant experience in an oil and gas operations role or equivalent work experience * Level B requires a minimum of 2-4 years of relevant experience in an oil and gas operations role or equivalent work experience * Level A requires a minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience in an oil and gas operations role or equivalent work experience Preferred Qualifications: Solid troubleshooting skills and ability to interpret and analyze data Strong computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office suite.
