Assists and interfaces with the Installation Team Lead or Project Manager regarding on-site scheduling of work activities and timely delivery of equipment. Conducts tests to ensure all newly installed systems and component devices are operational. Troubleshoots new system installations to ensure proper functioning and to ensure system meets local, county, state or federal codes; legal and/or insurance requirements. Presents a professional image both in personal and vehicle appearance. Performs work assignments in a safe manner and within specified cost limits. Promotes, builds, and maintains good customer relations and assists with contract retention. Maintains company propriety and documentation in accordance with established policies; handles proprietary information in the prescribed manner; adheres to and supports Securitas Technology policies and procedures including all safety requirements. Inspects, tests, maintains and repairs telecommunication, intercommunication, call and signaling devices, and other related electronic, electrical and mechanical equipment by: * Testing telecommunications, intercommunications, call and signaling devices and audio-visual distribution systems, utilizing instruments, which includes oscilloscopes, multi-meters, test standards, frequency generators, counters and other unique test sets. * Evaluating and analyzing problem areas of assigned equipment, determining the cause using statistical analysis and data furnished by the manufacturer and other sources, making corrections, repairs or modifications, as appropriate, using accumulated knowledge. Also determining specific work methods and replacement parts to be used and whether service should be completed in the on site or at a commercial vendor's location by using cost information, as appropriate. * Scheduling and performing preventative maintenance to ensure compliance with manufacturer's recommendations, N.E.C., etc. * Maintaining records of all repairs accomplished, testing procedures completed, preventive maintenance and evaluation of equipment within BHS, updating service and technical information manuals and communicating with the manufacturers as required to obtain parts and supplies for the appropriate systems. * Keeping work areas orderly, clean and safe in addition to maintaining tools, test equipment and associated supplies. * Installing, repairing and conducting preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment, including telephone systems, intercommunication systems, nurse call systems and audio-visual equipment and other appropriate systems (e.g., paging systems, alarm systems and patient safety communication devices) and other equipment as assigned. Performs other functions to maintain personal competence and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the department by: * Completing other job-related assignments and special projects as directed. Education and Experience * The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of an Associate's degree in Engineering Technology or an equivalent level of related education. Two years of formal education and training in the repair and maintenance of telecommunication and electronic equipment is required. A minimum of one to two years of experience in the repair and maintenance of telecommunication systems is required. A basic understanding of database applications is required. Working Conditions * Working conditions will vary from the Telecommunication repair shop to patient care areas, where isolation skills are required in dealing with communicable diseases. * High risk is involved in testing and repairing equipment where high voltage and lethal energy is present. * Requires the ability to work flexible hours. Hours may vary due to the importance of the telephone and intercommunication systems of the Hospital. Service on this type of equipment in an emergency situation may require work times other than during normally-scheduled working hours.
