**What Is the Opportunity?**
Under moderate supervision, the National Property Account Engineer designs and oversees delivery of valued and high quality Property Risk Control services to assigned large National Property accounts and clients country-wide. This includes activities in support of: Acquisition of new business through participation in account meetings at the request of National Property Underwriters, including presentations around Risk Control's value proposition as it relates to that specific class of business and unique situations for that account; Loss Prevention activities to achieve/maintain a profitable account. Identification of past losses and potential for trends or emerging issues; and Account Retention, whereby the value provided by Risk Control is a factor in the account renewing with Travelers. This position influences but does not manage others.
Please note that this role can be leveled up to Senior Account Engineer commensurate with experience.
**What Will You Do?**
+ Maintain a consistent field presence, spending approximately 20% - 50% of the time onsite with customers. Traveling to customers may entail long-distance, overnight travel, and/or multi-night trips depending on the needs of the business and alignment with territory and/or geography.
+ Serves as client contact and consults with them on strategies for controlling hazards to reduce or prevent losses. Influences clients to implement recommendations. Develops comprehensive plan for services to be delivered, appropriate resources to be used. Negotiates with and manage client expectations to achieve appropriate balance between service and cost.
+ Develops meaningful, impactful, timely and professional Risk Control Service Plans, Risk Control Service Summaries, and Mid-Term Reviews and related account correspondence.
+ Provides Risk Control Service Instructions as necessary for quality and service delivery of appropriate services by our countrywide RC staff.
+ Provides technical advice and account information to National Property Underwriters for risk assessment and analysis.
+ Maintains current knowledge of account losses, emerging issues relevant to the account, operational changes and the property hazards and protection issues associated with them for assigned accounts.
+ Acts in autonomous capacity and in close communication with the National Property Underwriters for their assigned account list, plus the Property Director, serving as a resource to the National Property Underwriter in development of insurance deal and account retention strategies. Assists with presentations to potential and current insureds to demonstrate a Risk Control value proposition tailored to the needs of the account.
+ Builds and maintains productive relationships with underwriting and service teams assigned to the national business, with the broker/agent community, with Claim Account Executives, and other Risk Control staff as appropriate.
+ Develops and documents "success stories" relating to measurable reductions in Loss Expectancies and improvement in protection at account locations.
+ Takes the initiative to act as a mentor to other employees that are servicing assigned accounts.
+ Functions as a field Property Specialist as workload demands and/or to better service assigned accounts.

Key Accountabilities:

Acts as subject matter expert on GEICO and GEICO-affiliated product, features, and tools. Research to maintain a clear understanding of competitor offerings to influence agents to sell our product.
Evaluates agency performance and holds agents accountable for agreed upon action plans.
Conducts training of agency staff on GEICO and GEICO-affiliated products, services, and value proposition.
In collaboration with leadership and the product team, develops efficient and effective growth plans utilized by agencies.
Prepares department business plans, staffing projections and budgets. Requisitions supplies and materials necessary for efficient operation. Reviews plans and budgets periodically to achieve cost reduction where possible.

This officer-level role is responsible for leading underwriting excellence across CNA's largest and fastest-growing Middle Market Technology Property & Casualty portfolio in North America, spanning the Midwest and South territories. With profitable double-digit growth, this segment reflects CNA's strategic focus on technology and specialization. The position oversees two people leaders and a high-performing team of underwriters, with a unique opportunity to unify the Midwest region and accelerate further expansion.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1. Implements strategic objectives, underwriting strategies, and best practices with substantial impact on the short-term and long-term success of a product line or segment.
2. Ensures the achievement of continued profitability, growth and/or operational efficiencies for a product line or segment through assessment of risk tolerance, market appetite and emerging risk issues.
3. Evaluates underwriting performance based on financial analysis. Includes rate, reserve adequacy, operational, planning and product reviews. Provides results to members of the underwriting management team and develops plans to resolve issues.
4. Monitors the usage and profitability of alternative pricing programs.
5. Drives adherence to underwriting authority delegation, audit criteria and catastrophe management for a product line or segment.
6. Collaborates with business partners in Risk Control, Actuarial, Claim, Worldwide Operations and Compliance to address governance and compliance issues related to underwriting practices.
7. Provides guidance and direction in the development of underwriting and training tools.
8. Lead, direct and have full management accountability for staff in area of responsibility with an emphasis on talent management and succession planning in accordance with strategic direction.
9. Will take lead responsibility for the development of underwriting strategies and position papers for emerging issues when assigned.
10. Will maintain relationships with branches, brokers, agents and customers to assess risk tolerance, market appetite and emerging issues.

CNA is a market leader in insuring Allied Healthcare Providers, including nurses, nurse practitioners, physical therapists, counselors, pharmacists, massage therapists and more than 100 other categories of medical service providers. This role will support the business and interact with these key customers.
In this position you will be responsible for the overall investigation, management and resolution of Allied Healthcare Provider claims in multiple states within your assigned jurisdiction including matters involving nurses, therapists, counselors or other healthcare provider or facility insureds. Recognized as a technical expert in the interpretation of complex or unusual policy coverages, you will work with autonomy and broad authority limits, to manage professional liability healthcare claims with moderate to high complexity and exposure in accordance with company protocols, quality and customer service standards. You will also partner with internal business partners such as Underwriting, to share claim insights that aid in good underwriting decisions.
This role collaborates with insureds, attorneys, other insurers and account representatives regarding the handling and/or disposition of complex litigated and non-litigated claims in multi-state jurisdictions. You will investigate and resolve claims, coordinate discovery and team with defense counsel on litigation strategy. You will utilize claims policies and guidelines, review coverage, determine liability and damages, set financial reserves, secure information to negotiate and settle claims.

* Resolves claims by collaborating with internal and external business partners to develop, own and execute a claim resolution strategy, that includes management of timely and adequate reserves, collaborating with coverage experts, negotiating complex settlements, partnering with counsel to manage complex litigation and authorizing payments within scope of authority.
* Establishes and manages claim budgets by achieving timely claim resolution, selecting and actively overseeing appropriate resources, authorizing expense payments and delivering high quality service in an efficient manner.
* Realizes and addresses subrogation/salvage opportunities or potential fraud occurrences by evaluating the facts of the claim and making referrals to appropriate Claim, Recovery or SIU resources for further investigation.
