The USC Department of Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine, and the Eli and Edythe Broad Center for Regenerative Medicine is seeking a Research Scientist to contribute to the heart regeneration program led by Dr. Charles Murry. Research activities span from discovery to translational applications involving stem-cell based technologies. We are seeking a dedicated and collaborative AnimalHealthTechnician to join our dynamic team focused on advancing cardiac cell therapy research. This position involves providing animal care (small and large models) under veterinary supervision, performing surgical and diagnostic procedures, collecting research samples, administering medications, as well as assisting with molecular and functional analyses. The ideal candidate will be passionate about animal care and biomedical research and thrive in a team-oriented environment.
Job Accountabilities:
* Ensures that animals are provided care in accordance with state and federal regulations to promote physical and psychological well-being and minimize discomfort.
* Administers drugs and other treatments. Assists Veterinarians and Scientific team with handling animals during procedures.
* Prepares reagents, sterilizes instruments and prepares facilities for surgical use. Performs technical procedures across a variety of laboratory animal species, including handling, restraint, physical examinations, sample collection, surgical assistance, and medication administration.
* Assists in experimental data collection and analysis including functional assays, immunohistochemistry, and PCR.
* Monitors inventory relevant to animal studies and orders supplies as needed.
* in inspecting incoming animals for shipping condition, food supply, disease symptoms; performs physical examinations.
* Maintains meticulous and accurate records for all matters pertaining to animal studies.

* Prepares standard operating procedures and writes reports.
* Reports at laboratory meetings and assists team members in preparation of slide decks.
* Learns and follows laboratory safety procedures under the direction of IACUC, the USC Safety Office and more experienced laboratory staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

JOB OVERVIEW
The Living Specimen Coordinator/Maintenance Technician is responsible for the complete care and feeding of the College's living specimens including the animal room animals, barn animals, and fresh water and marine specimens, plus coordinates the efforts of support staff as applicable. The Living Specimen Coordinator/Maintenance Technician also assists with maintaining cleanliness, safety, orderliness, appearance and repair of campus grounds, roads, walks and buildings.
POSITION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS
Involved in all aspects of care for living collections including, but not limited to: feeding, watering, cleaning, regular animal handling for health and socialization, animal training, enrichment, preventative health care, veterinary emergencies, monitoring and record keeping, cage maintenance, tracking supplies, setting up and taking down fencing, moving animals through pastures, and general upkeep.

Overview
THIS IS A TEMPORARY, HOURLY AS NEEDED POSITION WITHOUT PERMANENT STATUS.

Experience in the use of various disinfectants and proper procedures.

The Theriogenology service at the Cornell University Hospital for Animals is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to support advanced reproductive care in a collaborative academic teaching hospital. This role blends hands-on clinical work with laboratory, client service, and instructional responsibilities across equine, farm, and companion animal settings. Working closely with faculty clinicians, students, and hospital teams, the technician plays a key role in patient care, research, and teaching. The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provide patient care and client support for the Reproductive Medicine service across equine, farm, and companion animal settings

Maddie's Shelter Medicine Program (MSMP) is launching a new initiative to expand access to veterinary care for underserved communities in Tompkins and surrounding counties. We're seeking an exceptional LVT to help make it happen.
Our faculty clinicians and LVTs mentor veterinary students and interns as they deliver top-quality care in shelter, clinical, and community settings. The LVT team provides surgical and technical support for high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter (HQHVSN), soft tissue, and dental procedures, as well as other essential services. Through our accessible care programs, we also offer low-cost preventive care and treatment for minor illnesses and injuries.
MSMP LVTs use their full skill set, one day assisting in surgery, the next working directly with clients, all in a supportive teaching environment. We're looking for a motivated professional with the vision and drive to help lead and grow this new program in alignment with Cornell's core values.
The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Providing direct client communication with professionalism and empathy, while delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients and support to their families.
Under supervision of faculty clinician, serving as primary anesthetist for MSMP surgeries at local shelters, Primary Care Surgery, Small Animal Community Practice (SACP), Shelter Outreach Services (SOS), and College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) locations.
Providing patient care including Fear Free restraint, medical treatment, specimen collection, diagnostic imaging.
Maintaining records and entering client data in zy Vet, the electronic medical record system.
Provide instruction and support to veterinary students, interns and externs in clinical and anesthetic techniques.

Required Qualifications

Ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with various groups and individuals (including staff, students, technicians, and veterinarians) and to always act in a professional manner.

The Cornell University Hospital for Animals provides 24-hour care for pets 365 days of the year. The schedule for this position requires flexibility to ensure that adequate patient care and service needs are provided without interruption or exception. Cross-training with other services to support business continuity will be expected as time/business need allows. If business needs change, a position/individual may be realigned within the CUHA to a different shift or service.

Reporting to the Clinic Manager and receiving work direction from the Clinical Lab Scientist, this position performs phlebotomy and laboratory support services in accordance with established protocols and licensing requirements. The incumbent works collaboratively with clinical and administrative staff to collect and process specimens, support laboratory operations, and ensure a safe, efficient, and positive experience for student patients.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform phlebotomy services, including venipuncture and skin punctures, and collect specimens according to provider orders
* Process, label, and prepare laboratory specimens for in-house and external testing
* Perform basic and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) waived laboratory tests as permitted by training and licensure
* Enter and maintain accurate patient and laboratory information in electronic medical records
* Assist with laboratory inventory, equipment maintenance, sterilization, and infection control procedures

Campus Security Authority - In accordance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act) and CSU systemwide policy, this position is subject to ongoing review for designation as a Campus Security Authority. Individuals that are designated as Campus Security Authorities are required to immediately report Clery incidents to the institution and complete Clery Act training as determined by the university Clery Director.
