1970

The Grand was rescued from demolition in the mid 1970's and underwent a 12-year, $7 million refurbishment, which has earned the theatre various awards of excellence in design.

1986

An estimated 1.3 million people turn out in Downtown Houston April 5, 1986 to see French composer Jean-Michel Jarre's "Rendez-vous Houston: A City in Concert."

2001

The center would be expanded in 2001 to 1.8 million square feet.

2008

By November, Houston returns to 2008 pre-recession employment levels; first major metro to do so.
