Job Summary:
Children's Museum Houston (CMH) seeks a Parent Stars Assistant to work with the Parent Stars team with the ongoing implementation of the program. Parent Stars is a parent engagement program to help parents of young children understand how they can become involved in promoting the science, math, and literacy learning of their children both at home and in the classroom. Parent Stars is one of the programs offered by CMH's Institute for Family Learning which supports the Museum's mission to “transform communities through innovative, child-centered learning that improves the trajectories of all children.” This position will be part-time, up to 29 hours per week.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Participates in the delivery of Family Learning Events and effectively engages parents, children, and other attendees at events.
Assists with transportation of program materials as necessary.
Works with Parent Stars Manager and staff to complete necessary steps for setup, implementation, and breakdown of Parent Stars events.
Participates in the collection of evaluations and sign in sheets for all events and returns to Parent Stars Manager.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with all levels of management both internal and external to the Museum.
Other duties as assigned.

Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and some weekends.
Ability to travel throughout the city and region to present Parent Stars programming in a variety of settings.

Typing Requirement
In addition to meeting the minimum qualification requirements, you must show possession of the ability to type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample, with three or fewer errors. You may self-certify your proficiency in the Occupational Questionnaire.

We are looking for an energetic, reliable Cook to join our growing team.
Cook, Full Time
This position is responsible for the preparation and serving of meals, sanitation of food service areas, accurate record keeping, receiving, rotating and inventory of products and regulatory compliance. Also shares the responsibility to ensure all special dietary needs are met and prepare texture modified food as directed. This position uses standardized recipes to achieve proper quantities and consistent high quality dining service that takes into account diner's preferences.
He/she also shares the responsibility to ensure special dietary requirements are in compliance with applicable food and sanitation regulations.
Requirements:
High school education or equivalent is required (GED is accepted).
Six months to a year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Requires knowledge of special diets.
Obtain and hold any local or state required food handling/supervision/sanitation licenses and/or certifications.
